It's either we get to play with it, and can give you a little info, or you just wait until it is signed off and it arrives. Which would you prefer?
We don't have a huge amount of feedback into the process, but if there were any new huge glaring bugs, I think we'd find em

The release has to be signed off by various different people (as i'm sure you understand).
Normally this process is behind the scenes, O have been kind enough to get us involved.
If they did release a beta and it killed some phones, it (a) doesn't make them look good, and (

Worth a try
Anyway, in my opinion, Orange will probably try and release the update just before the MoDaCo meet. That way the Orange representatives who are present, will avoid an ear bashing from MoDaCo members demanding SMS counters etc. etc
Didn't they make the OTA unlocking Developer's site available just before the last meeting, which softened everyone up, and avoided any arrests at the meet :?:

hearing of any official Orange updates on this site before the rest of the net.
Also there is a chance we could kill our phones and yes I'm glutton for punishment
but I would not wish a dead phone on anyone else.

I can understand why you wouldn't want riff raff like Simon  to try it, but I'm bonafide

How about T9? Are the saved words remembered for more than a week?
Does the inbox have a delete all function?
Is there an alarm icon on the today screen?
Oh, let me guess.....errr dunno, no, no, no. Whoopeee (this is not a dig at Paul, just a kick in the nuts for all those who have been responsible for the general smartphone update fiasco).
How long have we been moaning about the SAME bloody issues? A week?, a couple of months?, no, nearly a year! It's not rocket science to make these things work, and if it is they are using the wrong scientists!

Personally, i'm glad the big O have decided to include the guys in the Beta.
as for the "secret" part people are moaning about, most software is Beta'd in secret and most Beta testers have to sign a non-disclosure agreement :? so whats the fuss? Did you think O were just gonna release an update untested?
Everyone should be glad knowing that an update is coming soon and it has been tested by people we know and trust
