Found a cool midlet that DOES work with the MiTAC Java Runtime?

Well, don't keep it to yourself, post it here :)

If it doesn't however, post it in the other topic!

Think they should all be fine as long as they are packaged in .jar or .jad's (thought it'd got a jar working...)

I still exist

Might note that JavaMan doesn't like the java app names longer than 9 letters. It'll give an error "alert: Cannot access j9midpng. Make sure the file is not in use or try opening it from within an application". Here are a few that worked for me randomly playing around with a few downloads:

GoldMiner 1.2.1
Game will run if file name is shortened from GoldminerTrium.jar to Goldminer.jar.
http://midlet.org/repository/macrospace/go...rium.jar?md=138

Fremtris 0.5.3
A tetris clone. Use navigation pad to move pieces and 1 key to rotate.
http://midlet.org/repository/krzyzanowski/...tris.jar?md=445

MIDP Man 1.0.1
A Pacman clone.
http://midlet.org/repository/javaonthebrai...dpman.jar?md=15

Dwindle 1.0.8
A game where you eliminate blocks.
http://www.innograte.com/mobile/midp/insta...all/Dwindle.jar

Reversi
An Othello game clone.

Just figured out how to make a few midlets work that didn't before. midlets that need to connect to the internet didn't have security permissions to do so, so they weren't working. I've just successfully used an irc midlet called Virca and a telnet app called mutelnet with the changed security settings.

Here is what I changed to make the apps work:

1) Drag IPSMProgram FilesMIDPNGlibsecurity.policy to the desktop.

2) Open it in a text editor like notepad or wordpad.

3) add the line "allow: javax.microedition.io.Connector.socket" under the "domain: untrusted" entries.

4) Save the file and replace the one on your phone with the new file.

This allowed me to use a bunch of midlets that wouldn't work before.

µTelnet 2.0.1
A telnet midlet.

Virca 1.1.3
An IRC midlet. Use it to connect to irc.monolithix.org #smartphone :)

Got the following midlets from this site ( http://www.mobiled.net/download.html ) to work:

Jokes
Language Dictionary

I have yet to try the others, but I suspect that quite a lot of them works!

Mitac pulled the zip files on thier service site. Looks like there is no legitimate source for the files now.

Try http://cordo.free.fr/spf/Mitac/ and download Java.zip

Some kind person posted the above URL on smartphonefrance.info yesterday. I could never reach Mitac's service site (invalid DNS?), and so had resigned myself to not being able to get the files, until I saw the post on smartphonefrance.info.

Well I didn't download the Java.zip - I downloaded the APCD-v20.zip - and took the two cabfiles from that file.

Javaman.cab
midpng_SmartPhone.cab

The java.zip contains:
JavaMan.cab
JavaWM.cab

So I can't really say if the latter is great, but if you download the APCD-v20.zip and take the two cabfiles from there, simply install those two on your IPSM (not your storage card) - then make a folder called "Temp" and place it in "IPSM" (IPSMTemp)

Then place the midlets in the Temp folder, and run Javaman to select which midlet to run.

Well that site has been down for me .. for the better part of two days!

I mentioned APCD-v20.zip cause it was also in the directory found here: ( http://cordo.free.fr/spf/Mitac/ ) - should probably have made that a lil more clear

Oh well...
