EDIT - SEE PAGE 2 FOR NEW SMARTPHONE VERSION 4.3.5

I am currently in contact with the developer of MetroSP, because I made
a suggestion for easier scrolling through the list of cities by pressing letters.

So I thought I'd start a thread here so that other people can add their wishes
and suggestions for features and improvements here.

I will tell the developer about this thread, so he can watch it and make
changes!

Keep suggestions simple though, because the poor guy doesn't have a
smartphone (yet) ;-), he is probably testing his versions on the SDK.

EDIT - By the way the feature I described above was implemented within
hours by him, and I already have this new version, which will probably
be up on the site as well soon. Also: everyone who hasn't noticed: there
is a new version of the city files out for a few days now, with some
updated and some added ones!

No suggestions anyone?
Nobody using MetroSP?
It's such a wicked lil program!
Well I suppose that no replies means that people are mostly happy with it,
which is actually no surprise, cause it is a well made application!
Feel free to post ideas though, anyway!

I use Metro on the palm and recently loaded the Smartphone version.

It's a great little app, the only issue with the smartphone version is that it's quite difficult to use.

One thing that was annoying, when you type in "abc" mode it shortens the list at the bottom nicely, if you type in "t9" mode then it doesn't shortn the list properly at all, I think it just picks up the latest letter that appeared or something. What would be ideal would be the list filtering in a T9 style similar to what happens in the contacts list.

I downloaded the program .. and it seems very nice ... I live in Copenhagen tho .. the city with the SMALLEST metro in the whole world (it has to be hehe) .. is there a file for copenhagen tho!?

And what's the latest version!? I don't remember where I got the app! It was in installed the very first day .. along with a 1000 other things, so I haven't really tested it very well...

Hmmm I just tested the proggy, and I can't even add cities (where from and to)! I'm trying out the London tourist thingie! Oh well .. I guess it's not a very 'user-(read dummie) friendly proggy yet'...

Edited: Nevermind, I figured it out, it's a sweet proggy, I want the version where you can search cities by pressing the appropriote keys *nod self*

Yep the smartphone port isn't perfect yet, but the program has a solid history and huge support.

Check out here for a list of cities you can download (and they're all free as in beer)

http://nanika.net/Metro/ (click on covered cities on the menu bar at the left)

Download the latest PocketPC version (metro.zip) from this page:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/tatami/Metro/
Then unzip it and copy all cities from the "all" folder to your spv into
the same folder where the metro.exe is! (I have all on there, just in case I
ever get to North Korea or something like that ;-))

Spacemonkey you beat me by a few seconds ;-)

Then please post all your improvement suggestions here, as the developer
will not find out problems due to the lack of an actual phone.

Yeah, follow spacemonkey's link to see what's covered, but my one to
download metro.zip to have the actual files

At the moment he is trying to sort out the fact that his version he developed
for me only moves the highlighting away to another city, but you ned to
press a direction button to jumpt to where the highlighting has been moved
by pressing a letter!
This is only semi-perfect!
I have an even newer version, too, which apparently moved highlighting
and screenview to the desired letter on the SDK, but still didn't do that on
the spv.
The developer is currently looking into this.
I should get a new version soon and (with permission of the developer)
could post it here then, or the current version, if this cannot be made any
better, as it is a big improvement already!
Keep watching this space!

Well .. sorry for all my spam posting .. I went to the site (About is nice in any program hehe) and found Copenhagen. What do you know, it's not only the Metro... it's the S-trains and busses as well! I'm SOOOOO syked! (I need to get a life I know hehe)!

I'm installing this one on EVERYBODY'S spv in school next thuesday! This is the most useful tool (except for SMS Tools *hehe*) I have come across for my phone! GREAT JOB!!

Yeah, I know, but you still have two Metro lines, whereas a town
called Catania for example has only one line with only 6 stations
and there are other examples that are smaller than Copenhagen, too.

I agree, it is one of the greatest apps!
But why do you go to school with 23 years? And does everyone have spvs there?

BACK TO THE TOPIC OF THIS THREAD:
I just discovered that the newest version I got actually does work completely
as I wanted (jumping with highlighting and screen view to the first town
that starts with the pressed letter).
Must have been a problem on my phone the first time I tried!
Maybe I should restart the phone before running each new version of Metro!
So I just emailed the developer that he can stop trying to sort this out and
asked him as well whether I can post this file here, or if he wants you to
wait, until the next official version is up on his website!
Keep posting suggestions!!!

Hey, MoRFLeZ, have you seen Genova (1 line 5 stations), Ottawa (same) or
even Krasnoyarsk (1 line, 4 stations) ;-)
In my oppinion not much helpful, but I suppose some local people from these
locations asked the developer to do them and he didn't want to turn them
down. Or a step by step development of plans for nearly every major city
could actually end up in a few years in an integrated global database with
cross connections from everywhere to everywhere by all means of
transportation and possibly including timetables that are regularly updated
via the net. In that case every little city line will help ;-)
But maybe I am just dreaming of the future here...

Messed up the quotes, oh well!

Actually it's University (which I call school out of bad habbit *hehe*). 4 peeps in my class have the SPV, and a few more are very interested in it! And why not .. it's freaking amazing!

I haven't checked a bunch of lines out, just plan on having Copenhagen on my phone, and add the others if I go on holiday *hehe*! After I finally figured out how to use it, it really works wonders, you add a part of the name, and it's fairly easy to find the right station with the highlighted suggestions.

I've said it a few times, and I'll say it again, awesome app.

Actually that happens to me sometimes too! Should have guessed! ;-)

With only one (or a few) cities you won't need that new version that jumps to
the right one quicker, it only helps geeks like me, who like the idea of having
the whole world accessable just in case I want to find out about travelling
in North Korea or Russia ;-) however even with this improvement it takes me
quite a while to load a new city, because it takes ages to build up the whole
list for selection before I can actually select one. So I would probably say you
are better off just keeping those cities useful to you!

I'm trying to get MetroSP to work on the MPx200. So far it's worked once. I unziped the files and copied them to the MPx. Then I ran MetroSP.

The next time I tried to run MetroSP it never launched! I looked in task manager and there is a MetroSP.exe running but I can't switch to it :)

Anyone have any suggestions? TIA!

I'm actually having the same problem with the new update 1.6.4.10

What I do is start up SP Task Manganer - and kill the MetroSP process ... then run the app again! But it's still shakey .. gonna e-mail the author today and see if they are planning to fix it!
