just out of curiocity, why didn't you choose the iPhone?
dispute how I always complain about the Omnia II, even if I were to choose another phone right now, I wouldn't choose the iPhone, it will be the Nexus One. Because:
-iPhone screen sucks, yeah it may have been good back in 2007, I remember how incredible it looked back then, but now it looks too cheap. I'm sick and tired of the glowing blacks on LCD screens.
-everyone has iPhone, it's uncool
-everything coasts money
-bad camera
-bad battery life
-I don't play games on phones, even if I have the option I wouldn't play much as well.
-If you're a fan of documentries you probably noticed how Steve Jobs is always the hero of innovation and change in the battle with the evil coporate devil Bill Gates. I do not see that in the current world. What I see is Apple trying to make money in every possible way, and preventing others from making money by whatever means nessicary, for example locking down the iPhone. On the other side Bill Gates foundation is the largest hummanitarian foundation in the world, donating like more money than the sum of everyone else in the world.
It's true Microsoft sells Windows for hundreds of bux when Mac OS X is like $10. but you can't install a Mac OS X on anything other than a Mac computer, and they already asked for that extra $300 when you bought your Mac, it's all the same. And Apple will do anything to stop you from trying to install Mac OS X on a PC, while Microsoft lets you install Windows on anything you like.
something fishy must be going on in the back.

Uhmm.... lemme think....
I guess a reply like "I'd rather have a sex change operation than buying whatever i-crap" would not be too exhaustive, would it? :)
Let's see if I can list some reasons...

- most of its technical specifications just plain suck, it's basically a good capacitive touchscreen on an average-if-not-crappy everything else
- has the customizability of a lobotomized chicken
- costs about 7-8 times what I think it's worth
- as much as I can criticize Microsoft, Apple will always be worse in my eyes

just the first 4 reasons that come to my mind... would write more but I'm starving and I really need to go to dinner lol ;)

My Current Device:
Samsung Galaxy S I9000, Froyo JP5

Why don't I have an iPhone?:

First and foremost... I'm under contract with Verizon as are almost all of my family and friends. Switching to AT&T would require me to give Verizon my first-born son and also several hundred of dollars spent in out-of-network calling.

Second... like you, I'm no fan of Apple. Although I use a Mac almost exclusively at work every day, I've been a PC tweaker since 1993. Apple completely lost me when they dumped SCSI. At the time, the company I worked for had literally thousands of dollars invested in SCSI peripherals, and to use them on the new Macs required us to dump everything or buy ridiculously overpriced adapters (I still chuckle about the $89 external floppy drive). I could never understand the Mac fanboys who bashed Microsoft, while Apple showed ZERO consideration for their user base with each upgrade. Newbus, SCSI, and now Firewire... as soon as Apple decides there's something better on the horizon, they dump their standards. Meanwhile, Microsoft bends over backwards to accommodate over technology and still gets ripped they try to take a step forward with 100% compatibility.

Finally... I'm a tweaker, and I'd get bored with the iPhone in about two days. I love that I can make my phone do things that the designers never intended. To me, an iPhone is a cool techno-gadget for the technically impaired. The people I know who are the biggest iPhone fans are the ones who call me to set up a wireless network. It's a great phone for the masses, and I like to think I'm at least a little bit more techno-savvy than that.

Why don't I have an iPhone/iPad/iCrap?

except it's a total joke with 100+ icons and that jump-in jump-out concept, I simply don't deal with companies, that feel uncomfortable with customer share, that's more than 6% of the market :)
Even if the chance is on their side by some strange temp reasons, they try to decrease the customer base at all costs...well, I'm fully supporting them in that task and will help them having -1 customer to worry about ;))

What I like the Iphone

1. Touchscreen
2. 30 pin dock
3. Apps

Why I wont get an Iphone Unless these get added.

1. Home screen. I want Widgets I want to see the weather/calendar entry's without opening an application
2. Better camera & Dual Flash
3. Adobe Flash on web sites

I agree with having a Winmo phone because you can customize it however you want. However, apple products are so much prettier then winmo...all the apps and everything are just sexy and winmo is just blah. And plus EVERYTHING supports Iphone. I would like certain bank apps or apps that i would actually use everyday and are alot easier to use then winmo but I can't because most things are only made for Iphone. And the GPS is good as well. You open google maps and it finds you instantly but with winmo it takes sometimes minutes and minutes to find it. But again, it all comes down to the customization of it and getting bored with the same thing over and over.

Even though I went to the store to get one, the guy at the store convinced me not to after finding out what I wanted in a phone. He showed me his custom Omnia2 against another employees JB IPhone. It became clear that I had no idea about windows mobile like I thought. I then opted for the Omnia2, as long as he told me where to go online. (he sent me here)
They both said the IPhone is meant for teenage girls.

When I was looking for a new phone, I was choosing between the Iphone or Omnia2. I chose Iphone, but due to unavailablity, I had to take the o2. In comparison the Samsung has better specs, but I just hated the software (Win6.1). I wasn't able to customise it to my liking and that made me not able to love my phone. Recently, I upgraded to Win6.5, and things got better. More features, less bugs. Still, not really great.
UNTIL......I came to this site. WOW!!! I finally got to tweak my phone and do all things that I never thought was possible. There is so many options to customise and make my phone better. It was like back in those days where I had my motorola V3 and I was tweaking it, having great fun along the way.
Now, I am doing this to my Omnia2. I love my Omnia to death!!!
In retrospect, I had made the right decision to get the O2 instead of Iphone. Totally no regrets. Thanks MoDaCo.

What he said even with the sex change operation comment.
Plus I HATE all those dumb icons. I like a clean screen and the ability to tweak. This will be my last WM phone because I don't see WM7 being anything to write home about.
