Tks, and sorry for my bad english
Hey there. I am ssuming that you have felt the HTC HD 2 in your hand now? If so, you can see what I mean about it being a little too big (but props to the phone, it is an jaw dropping device).
If you are happy using android, I would definately reccomend the motorola milestone. If you want, we have one in the office (wireless research is awesome
In short, yes I would reccomend the phone. Out of the android phones I have used it is by far in the lead. The only slight issue I have with it is the keyboard is a little bit cramped, seperated keys would be nice.
As I always reccomend, try the device first before committing to buy it. What I think is cramped, you may think is great! It depends on things, even the size of your fingertips!
Things you wont see straight away:
Good points: 3D graphics are smooth and stable
Bad points: (This is likely to not apply to you) If you are using a Proxy authentication server at your place of work (which requires you to log in) the phone does not like being assigned a DHCP address. You will have to manually assign it a static IP (you may need to see your network administrator as it could cause an IP conflict) - May see an update to this in future android releases.
Also, developers are split. The Dext (USA) and Milestone (Europe) use different bootloaders. This means that like the omnia (i900 and i910 difference), there will only be ROMs for specific devices. I have no idea what flashing it is like as we have had to keep ours stock.
Apart from those small qualms I would say its a really great phone

Hey there. If your looking for an android device, make sure to also check out the milestone. It may sound like im plugging the phone lol (im not honestly, its the first motorola ive ever liked!), but it really is a top quality bit of kit and they seem to have done it right this time.
Is there a particular reason you wish to stick to samsung? The HTC Desire that has just been released looks pretty tasty, but I havnt been able to get my hands on one yet =/

Hey Billus, Im all for symbian phones, but I think they will be fizzling out. Nokia has dropped it and it is now open source. Theyre now pushing out Maemo. For anyone that hasnt tried this yet, it is a derivative of debian (linux). Initial impressions are that it is a very powerful OS but it needs more development for it. Also, it can sometimes be difficult just to do simple tasks :|
For anyone interested or thinking of buying the N900 by nokia, I have also got one at work which I can review for you with pics etc.
Symbian devices I think will be pushed by Sony Ericsson. They seem to like skinning the UI and I cant see them scrapping all of that. If you are looking at symbian devices, here is one big tip:
If you see the Satio and your thinking of buying it.........turn around and walk away. I was really dissapointed with the phone as were my colleagues. So much in fact, that we sent it back to expansys (under the 28 day distance selling regulation) as it was so poor. If I had shelled out £400/500 for it, I would be absolutely gutted. They feel cheap (very light, shiny silver plastic that will chip in a month or so), the screen is nothing special. The only good point is the camera, but you can get a 12MP camera for much less than that piece of crap will cost you.
The only Symbian devices I would reccomend would be the E class nokias. I think nokia will hang onto their symbian setup for a bit (just reprogram drivers etc to suit the device) If you like a straight to the point, business orientated phone, they are quality handsets. (Possibly not the E63, which feels a bit cheap) Some of the later N series are quite nice too actually
You did make a large error in your question though and that was mentioning iPhones. This thread is about 'Phones' not 'Fashion Accessories'. They do not 'Just work' at all, there are bugs in the software (for instance, version 3.0 + firmware cannot connect to a proxy server, it just craps all over itself), you just need to know where to look. It is probably due to inadequate testing. Yes, they have a nice capacitive screen and they are slim but thats all I can say for them. If anyone wishes to argue the toss about them, feel free to propose your questions, but do it in public on this thread, and I will give you a fair answer based on fact rather than my own dislike for them. (Im not an Apple hater, but they shouldnt say their products 'Just work' because none of their products are bug free)
Anyhow, rant over
If you are looking at symbian phones and come across any potential high end candidates, could you post your finds in the thread? Even just the model name and why you think its a good phone? Its nice to have a bit of variety amongst the windows mobile and android scene
Right, time for a sunday afternoon snooze
Jay
