I have a Verizon HTC Touch Pro2, during the day I'm in and out of buildings where the EVDO signal is 0-1 bars. As a result, my extended battery lasts avout 12 hours. I'd like to force 1X mode to see if it does better without continously searching for a better signal.

How can I do this?

I've tried numerous *-number and #-number codes, they do nothing.
I've set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\HiddenModeOperationPage=0

Still, I can't get the operating mode choice to appear under "CDMA Services" in phone options!

Help?

UPDATE:
Almost a year later, I've found a workaround, a few people have even posted scripts to expedite the settings over on the XDA forums.
