I currently have Storms detach rom that he just released, however I do not think this is a rom issue because I have tried several in an attempt to fix it and I have had no luck. I apologize if this has been answered before, I did some poking around and couldn't find anything. The problem is that the screen is misaligned significantly. For example if I go to the dialer and push 5 ensuring that no part of my finger or stylus is touching the 2, it records it as a 2. Originally I thought this was a simple screen aligning problem that could be fixed by aligning the screen in the settings. However when I try to do this, I end up in an endless cycle of screen aligns that seem to do nothing. After the + makes its way from the center to the corners, it flashes back to the center and this seems to continue until i turn off the phone. I have tried hard resets and numerous roms, including ones that worked fine for me in the past. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

The screens for this phone suck. try this registry hack:

You'll need Resco Explorer or something else that lets you modify the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\MaxCalError
I changed the DWORD Data to 20

Good luck!

having the exact same problem and it seems like it's only come about in the last couple of weeks... and seems to be getting worse.

the screen sensitivity is just horrible now.... it just won't seem to pick up a touch like it used to... i have to work my finger nail around in just the right spot at times just to get it to register. it's so frustrating.

i fear my touch screen is failing <_<

i'm running Waremike's latest M2D ROM.

i need a fix....

anybody have the registry calibration entries that work best? maybe a manual adjustment would help

Tried this but nothing changed. Thanks for the help though, it was worth a shot. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

i have the same issue, and I'm pretty convinced it's a screen thing. Try this. http://www.careace.net/2009/03/04/how-to-i...a-touch-screen/

It may make it tolerable until you get a replacement. I need to order my replacement soon, though, cause it's driving me up a wall.

Instead of pocking the alignment target in the middle, draw little circles around it. May take a couple cycles to get it to pop; also, it may or may not be very accurate.

There are values you can put in the registry that people swear will make the alignment dead-on (it didn't work well for me tho), i found it by searching for "omnia screen calibration"

Also search for "remote calibration", I know i downloaded a program but never tried it (and can't find it right now).

Good luck.

Did you try to align the screen after setting the MaxCalError value? You need to change the registry entry, reboot the phone then go into the screen alignment. You should get through it then, I just had to do it to mine.

Yeah I did, just tried again to double check. No luck for me. Thanks though. I've done some google searches and still can't find much of a solution, however it does seem to be a fairly common problem. If anyone thinks of something let me know.
