Hi there,

Coming from a N95 I'm really looking forward to buying this phone. I already have a WM 5 (6.5 cooked) Dell Axim x51v so I'm quite familiar with a WM PDA, but not much with a WM SmartPhone, so I have a few particular questions I'd like for you to answer if you may:

- In S60 we have the Nokia PC Suite. Besides being a bloatware full of crap it also has the nice features of being able to compose SMS/MMS and send them, manage the phonebook, etc, all using the natively available connections of the phone. You see, it installs some drivers that hook up with the already paired phone so the good thing is that when I get home, with my phone still in the backpack, and without doing nothing I can sit on the PC and compose a SMS. The software automatically opens the Bluetooth connection and works it out. Oh, and also and in the very same way, I can browse the phone's contents using the windows explorer, since it also lists the device there and shows the internal and external (SD) memory. All of this without even opening the Nokia PC Suite! As you see, very seamlessly and transparent for the user; only by having the phone in range.

- Is the Swype app actually usable with the fingers or does it really need for me to carry on the stylus? And also, the letter recognition, does it work well with the fingers?

- What's with every letter at the end of I8000x (L, etc.)? I know (99.99%) it is the region code, but as hard as I looked I didn't find any concrete information nor here or in Google! Can you please list all of them and what they mean?

- Is there any hardware / revision / manufacturing difference between the I8000 with WM 6.1 and the WM 6.5 preinstalled?

- (Similar to above) If I update the WM 6.1 device manually to the 6.5 device, do I end up with an EXACTLY THE SAME device as the 6.5 preinstalled one?

- Is there a version with WM 6.5.3 preinstalled?

- Is there the stock ROM of the device (WM 6.1 and WM 6.5) available as a "backup" in case I start fiddling with the cooked ROMS and eventually wanted to go back to the fully original Samsung one?

- I thought I read this but anyway, this phone can fully charge via the USB 2.0 of a computer, right?

Thanks in advance and if something else pops up in my mind I'll let you know!

You can manage "some" things through activesync, I can't be more specific, maybe others can. As far as I know, WM cannot use the phone as a proxy to send SMS.

Totally usable with your finger. I don't know what you mean about letter recognition. If your hands are like Shaquille O'Neals, you may have problems hitting the right keys.

Not necessarily region code, because i8000L are sold in Canada & Latin America. I don't know the specifics.

Not that i'm aware of.

As far as I know, yes.

No, but anything is possible.

Yes, just search the forum.

Thanks.

Any confirmation about the letters at the end of the model what do they mean?
