Hello, had my tg01 two weeks now and i love it, great phone. Anyway, ive been browsing these forums the past few days and its been a great help. I figured it was time to register ...

Just a few questions id like to ask the first being on demand wifi, rather than have the wifi on constantly i was wondering would it be possible to switch it on/off on demand ie every 5 mins to check my email. This could save alot of battery life so if something like this was possible we'd all be happy :).

Another question regarding the wifi is sometimes it appears to be on but isnt connected which results in using 3g and costing me money ;(. Is there anyway to avoid this ie limit email to only using wifi so 3g isnt used at all ?

Thanks

Don't know if you can "schedule" wi-fi to switch on and off periodically. however if you don't want to use the 3g data connection to avoid charges, simply change the settings so that the phone will not connect to internet at all using mobile network. To do this, touch the top panel where it says 3g+ --> choose settings --> under orange internet (could be different depending on your provider) choose manage existing connections and edit access point (e.g. instead of orangeinternet which is default value, change it to orangeinternet1).

The phone will now only be able to access internet through wifi or desktop pass-through.

It's not exactly what you are locking for but you can use NODATA (Free: search around) or Bandswitch, (Not free but there is an evaluation copy available)

Just spotted something of interest whilst browsing xda, an actual cab file that enables on demand wifi. http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=579965 Only problem is its only for custom roms and some official ones which come with HTC Application Service 1.14.1.0 or newer, and Comm Manager 2.9.11.0 or newer. So i think our tg01's are out on this one but maybe when we get our rom made cool things like this will finally be possible :-).
