=========Polemos DPad=========

-When I first bought my device (Omnia) one of the first things I did was to install my Java games from my previous phone (A nice Nokia:-), unfortunatelly the built in keyboards of Omnia or the built in Windows mobile thingy really weren't meant for the job. After a lot of Google searches didn't bear any fruits I decided to built one and, why not, share it with the world!!!

This is just a config skin for Finger Keyboard 2.1. You need this app installed first before you apply the virtual DPad. You may find it here.

So...

Some Screenshots:
-The Graphics for the skin below are not mine, they belong to user RR33

I am open to suggestions!!!!

An interesting note:
-This is not a simple skin for Finger Keyboard, this is a SIP configuration. What does that means? That you may select it the same way you are selecting languages. You get a DPad selection among the other languages and you get it on off in no time!

Install information:
-Download Finger Keyboard 2.1 (Choose the correct resolution!),
-Download and run the DPad cab file,
-Install it to the medium you have installed Finger Keyboard (Device or Storage Card)
-Go to the configuration section of Finger Keyboard and choose the DPad for keyboard and a DPad skin,
-Click apply.
You're done!

-For now the resolution for the DPad is only compatible with WQVGA devices (240x400).
I will add more skins for the DPad (plus a transparent one) and compatible resolutions in the near future.

I use Omnia Lite (B7300) and happy with it.
But when I play Age of empire (AOE), it's hard to play because B7300 doesn't have D-Pad.
I searched google and found this page, after install it, I think it's nice and looks good.
But how can I use it when I play AOE, or other full screen games (240x320 or 240x400)?

Ive been looking for something like this for a while. For EXACTLY the same reasons..!
So when I found it a couple weeks ago I downloaded and saved it on my Storage Card for later install when I had time to play.
I tried it this morning. . . Forgetting it was a SKIN for finger keyboard. . . Which I currently don't have installed.
( I did once. At that time, it wasn't what I was hoping for .)

What I've done is double click to install the posted DPad HD.cab file, WITHOUT finger keyboard installed first.
I didn't see any differences or settings etc. (of course), so I did a restart.

So ... Now ... My fone won't start. It hangs at the Welcomehead96 Screen.
-I do see my normal (modified) Startup screen and sounds.
-I AM able to enter my device pin code.
Then, ordinarily, it would go straight to my sim lock code entry. Not anymore.
I can use the power button to Sleep/Wake ok.
I have control over my finger mouse.
I can switch off the device normally also, Inc. custom Ani and sound.
Apart from that, and a blank black backlit screen, I HAVE NOTHING ELSE ..!

I don't blame this posters mod for my frozen fone, obviously I should have had finger keyboard installed first.
I still want to try this. (if I can get my fone to work after all)

It seems as if it tries to override the default keyboard with another that, as I mentioned before, is not installed.
Thus, not allowing ANY keyboards to come up, thereby preventing WinMo booting.

I post this here as a warning -- ENSURE FINGER KEYBOARD IS INSTALLED BEFORE DEPLOYING DPAD.. Lol.

I also post this here as a PLEA to anyone else out here who may be able to advise me in a helpful way to repair the damage I've done to my (wonderful) fone . . . (DEVASTATED <_< )

Ps. I seem to have no luck so far in Hard Reset with Hard keys options. (I'll take that up in another thread if necessary)

Thanks in advance .

@Metalmanicman,

wow, that was a really bad thing that had happened to you!!!

The cab file function is only to make a folder and copy files in it.

I have tested the installer with fingerkeyboard installed and without having the fingerkeyboard installed.

When I didn't have the fingerkeyboard installed and installed the cab the only thing that happened was the creation of two folders, nothing more.

I sincerelly don't know what happened.

@Impedance,

I don't have the Age of Empires to test it for you.

-Please forgive the delay to answer you but nobody was posting anything and I considered the D-Pad to be useless, so I stopped looking for any questions made in the thread.

@ Polemos.
Thank you for your reply (and concern) I'm not sure either. Is it because I'm running a modified samsung keyboard?
("Shokka's XT9 Gloss Black". Which is excellent btw.)

Ok, So I got my Omnia up and running again. (Hard Key - Hard Reset) All Good.

Once I got my system up to my preferred spec I gave the DPad another go. (Installed fingerkeyboard first..! Lol)
Everything went fine and it worked (mostly) The DPad option is on the keypad itself, which is cooool, But it didn't display as shown in your first post.
I got a strange hybrid of both keyboards (fingerkeyboard and the Dpad Skin) Neither of which worked fully with DPad deployed..

Weird...???

I presume you have it working perfectly on your device.?! But, It's not yet perfect on mine :D I have i900. 8GB. Is that different to yours?
... PERFECTLY...!

Initially I'd used an older version of Fingerkeyboard. Which obviously wasn't compatible with the cool Skin Polemos has made <_< Which was likely my earlier problem...

THIS IS NOT A LOST CAUSE.. You MUST continue this as it is a brilliant idea and sadly lacking in the omnia's standard repertoire of abilities.

I will revert my keyboard to the default original and try the fingerkeyboard DPad skin again (coz I REALLY WANT this). :(
And, I will post some screenshots in a day or two.

Thanks Again.!

Really stoked about this..
It works exactly as promised.

Looking forward to seeing the transparent version. (hopefully still in a Black/Red colour scheme)

This is AOE link

If you don't want to test it, it's ok, anyhow I like your software.
If you kindly test AOE, thank you very much for your kindness.
