Well. Over last 2 weeks there were 3 occurrences when I took my phone out of my pocket and it was dead.
2 of them were today. I installed HTC theme for S2U2 yesterday.
On the other hand the first time it happened I didn't use S2U2 at all.
Only SPB Mobile Shell was there always.
Could it be because of SPB thing?
I really like that device but this is getting my paranoia out of me. I keep checking that the phone is on.
Have anyone spotted such a thing.
I use winmo 6.1 ROM H5 stock

There are a few solutions for you:

Before we say it is software issues, you might want to open up the backcover to see if anything is loose, for example your battery.

Firstly, you might want to uninstall S2U2 first, then use your phone one day to see if it shuts down without you knowing.
Secondly, if the phone still shuts down after uninstalling S2U2, you might want to uninstall SPB.
Thirdly, think of all the apps you installed and post it here, maybe other people is also facing the problem.
Fourthly, your final resort, give it a hard reset plus eepom method.

Fifth, i do not hope it is a hardware issue.

Hopes this helps :D

I've had Mobileshell installed for some time now and never encoutered this problem.

When you say it is dead do you mean the battery so you then had to recharge it? sounds like an application was running in the background like media player or simiar.
The only other thing would then be a ROM issue, I have not had any experience with 6.1 Omnia 2 ROMs though.

Sorry. By saying "dead" I meant powered off.
Actually power consumption is one of the strongest points of this device.
After the first time it happened I did few HRs. So it looks like either SPB or ROM issue.
If it was a hardware it would be more consistent and periodic.
Meanwhile I got my secondary SIM with the same number inside my modu phone, which will be in the other pocket as a backup for a while.
I absolutely can't afford the situation when my phone is off, during the day.

Don't take this as an answer but I'll say it might be your ROM, since I have both S2U2 (v2.14) and SPB MS (v3.5.1) and have never encountered that issue, actuall by reading your post title, before opening the thread, i was about to suggest you to use the S2U2 to prevent any unwanted device wake-up but surprisingly you have it installed already and still are facing the problem!

By the way, I'm running IK5-Lite of Rodrigo

Well. Today it happened again.
But this time, I had a heavy box in my hands and leaned it against the body to release my right hand and get carkeys out of pocket.
I suppose there was a pressure on the phone in the other pocket. I felt it's being pressed.
Right after that I got it out and it was powered off.
The phone itself resides inside Brando hard case which is pretty sturdy.
I did a test though. Put the phone on the table and pressed it. It didn't shut down.
Looks like some kind of mechanical issue with battery contacts. Will check that later.
One other issue I paid attention now. I have 2 phones with the same number. I8000 and modu. modu has an auxiliary SIM I got for my GSM car stereo.
On previous setup LG phone + Blaupunkt GSM, LG was ringing first. I thought it was because of SIM situation.
Now modu rings 2 seconds before my Omnia.
I think it would be interesting to check this if someone else has dual SIM from the same number.
I run stock DX2 Phone.

I managed to turn my phone off while locked today by accidentally putting pressure on the power button while it was locked. I just tried it again and it didn't do it, so I suspect that this is a bug in s2u2 2.14 that only occurs under certain circumstances.

Just made a lot of clicks on the power button and it powered off. Indeed looks like S2U2 bug. Enabled Samsung original Lock and it doesn't happen.
But when it happened first time I didn't have S2U2.

Guys. What ROM do you have?

Update. Long press and.. BINGO. It also goes down.
Update #2. Rolled back to 2.12 but the issue is still there.

I am using J9 rom and the newest S2U2 does'nt seems to have the problem for me. Maybe S2U2 is not compatible with the version of the ROM you have?

Would you try to turn off the phone, and restart? Have you drop it before?

But you don't have a problem either.
It's not the same situation. I am looking for people who have 6.5 and still having this issue

It's not a S2U2 bug.. I have the same problem and have never installed S2U2.. I'm doing some troubleshooting myself and I'm guessing that it has to do something with default windows 6.5 lock screen - my phone freezes randomly with "lock when device is woken up" setting, but so far I have yet to reproduce this problem with this setting set to "off"..
The only other reason I can think of (and will try later if above mentioned fails) is some sort of incompatibility with SPB Mobile Shell (latest 3.5.1 version) that's the only program I have installed so far..
I bought my Omnia II last friday with WM 6.5 already preinstalled..

I enabled Samsung default lock and was not ble to reproduce this behavior. I have 6.1 though.
There are a lot of reports of 6.5 issue of not waking up not only on Omnias, which is not the situation in this topic. We are talking about spontaneous shutting down and not a freeze.

It seems like someone is reading this topic. S2U2 has been updated to version 2.20 which addresses all those issues.
No shut down if pressing a lot "power keys" and camera key is blocked opposing to 2.14

I have the same exact problem with IL2 rom from secany.

The phone will auto switch off. It happened when I have SPB mobile shell 3.5.2 and S2U2 2.20, with the default lock screen off.

I uninstalled S2U2 2.20 and had the default lock screen off and everything is working fine, no auto off.

Wondering if it's a SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.3 issue. This just started to happen to me as well. I thought it was s2u2 as well, so I uninstalled and it just happened again. If it happens again, I'm uninstalling 3.5.3.

Can reproduce this 100% by this method:
  • Lock phone
  • Wake it up by pressing the lock button but do not slide to unlock
  • Hold power button - phone will power off.
Also for me, the camera will still activate using the hardware button while the phone is locked. I'm using S2U2 v2.24 and SPB 3.5.3.

To activate the camera I have to lock, wake up (but not unlock), lock again using the hardware button, wake up again and then press the camera button.

Uninstalled MS 3.5.3 and only had s2u2 2.24 installed and had this happen. going to stop using s2u2 til it gets resolved.
