First procedure:
If you want to dump your rom you can use the sorg's tool (only if you use english language in your device. This tool instead is for italian language). Copy it in the main memory and launch the tool. Wait until success window appears then copy the bin file generated from your external memory to your computer and drag it over this rodrigofd's tool. Wait until a nb0 is generated.
That's all now you can flash the nb0 file with octans as usual. Remember the nb0 file will contain only the language you were using while dumping the rom.
Verify the pda version you have going to start/settings/advanced (right tab)/system/version/device/pda ver. The last 3 letters show from left to right the year, the month and the release number.
I share this procedure with you in order to give the community last samsung released roms so if you have a rom more up to date than IL2 for wm 6.5 or II1 for wm 6.1 then please share it here!(if you want to share your rom it's better following the procedure in the second post or even better in the third post, if you have some doubts about that post it or contact me with pm)

Thanks sorg and rodrigofd for the hard work in this forum!...and me for the wrap up :D

Second procedure:
What you need to accomplish this procedure:

Pako777’s i900_EXEcutor v 2.4 (thank you Pako for the great effort, much appreciated!);

Winhex full version (thank you sorg for precious hints).

Here are the instructions:

First we have to get the louvre.mli file from the device (which contains the pda and eboot part). To accomplish that:

1) disconnect the device from PC;

2) go to settings/general settings/USB connection and switch to Mass Storage mode with "My Storage" selected;

3) connect the device to PC. PC will find a new disk. This disk has 2 partition. One is normal and visible (where you probably saved some stuff) and another is hidden.

4) open WinHex, click on Tools>Open Disk, select Removable Medium 6 (1.9 GB, USB) and click ok.

Then access the hidden partition with 512 mb size (tipically partition 2) by double clicking on it. You should see a big file with the name louvre.mli. Right click on it and select recover/copy, then select where to copy the file.

Once you have extracted the louvre.mli file open pako’s executor go to the tools tab and press the MLI button, select the louvre file by browsing through the folder where you saved it. Select model b7610 in the drop-down menu then press go button.

That’s it you should have now two files eb0 (eboot part) and nb0 (pda part) which are flashable with Octans like explained in the I8000 forum.

I recommend you not to flash the eboot part because if something goes wrong you brick your phone.
With this procedure you can recover your device original rom even if you haven't dumped it only if you have never flashed a mst file, but only nb0 files.

Finally I remember you as ever:

I'm not responsible for any damages/bricks caused by this procedure. You're accomplishing it totally at your own risk!

ps: For all who don't want to buy a Winhex license you can follow this guide from Maeffy1. Thanks Maeffy!

Third procedure:
When you connect the phone to the pc and launch Samsung New Pc Studio you can obtain a message that there is a new update available for the phone.
Once you click to accept the update, the NPS start to download a zip file that contain all the update from Samsung web site (the url is something like that http://fus.samsungmobile.com/Phone_Binary/..._XX_XEN.zip.enc it is an encrypted file).
After it finishes to download the zip file, the NPS will autoextract the zip file to temp folder which in windows seven is C:\Users\”user name”\AppData\Roaming\Samsung\FUS\GT-B7610_xxxxx\ . That folder actually contains all the flashable files namely csc, eb0, mst and bin files.
Once the NPS finishes to flash the device, it will delete off all the files. If you copy these files immediately after the download is completed and before the end of the flashing procedure you can get all the necessary files to go back to an official Samsung release whenever you want with all the parts (pda, eboot, phone and csc).

Good luck and don’t forget to share the update with the community uploading and sharing it here with the links. :)

Thanks lysiong for the hint!

thanks for a really great guide <_<

1minor thing: 2 links (to the EXEcuter & to maeffy's guide) in the 1st post seem to be missing the "www.modaco.com/"-part, instead directing to "content-page/..."

thanks, again!

hi kibiwi.. thanks for this guide..! (:rolleyes:)
When i followed the 1st method.. my .nb0 file is 288mb.
2nd method gives eb0(1.12mb) and .nb0 is 318mb..
QUESTIONS......
Q1: What is the difference between the .nb0 files of 1st and 2nd method?
Q2: Is the .nb0 file enough for upgrading or downgrading windows? (i mean only with .nb0 file)
Q3: If i upgrade from WM6.5(build 21868) to WM6.5(Build 21895), will i be able to return to build21868 using OCTANS with this .nb0 file?
Q4: If i downgrade from WM6.5 to WM6.1, will i be able to return to WM6.5 using only the backed up .nb0 ?
Q5: In OCTANS there is this .CSC file.. Is it necessary to load it while using OCTANS?
Q6: Which one do u support to use? OCTANS Mini v2.11 or OCTANS Downloader v2.11?

P.S.
Sorry for these questions.. i am a n000000b in these things.. got my first windows mobile a week ago.. and I am curious to know more about these flashings, updating, downgrading etc.. please don't mind,, i would appreciate any help..
Thanks..
