Version 3.2.1 Below is a list of new features, changes, and fixed issues for Google Maps for mobile available in version 3.2.1 for Symbian Series 60 and Windows Mobile devices.

New features
  • Places of interest: Selectable icons and labels on the map allow you to choose prominent businesses or places of interest in order to see business info, reviews, photos, Wikipedia articles, and a lot of other local information. To select an icon or label, use the 5-way pad or joystick to pan it to the center of the screen or tap it on touchscreen phones. Learn more about these icons and labels already available on maps.google.com.
  • Favorite Places (English only): Explore the favorite places of local experts from cities around the world. Find out where they like to go, and why, from their own perspectives. From the Maps main menu, go to 'Layers' > 'More Layers' > 'Favorite places.' You can also see these on your computer by going to http://google.com/favoriteplaces.
Changes
  • Layers: The "More Layers" list of layers is now organized as a tree of layer categories.
Fixed issues
  • Samsung i8910: Fixes for crashes during usage.
  • Nokia 5800, and N97: Fixes for crashes during usage. Crashes on start-up for users on certain carriers are still being investigated. Some users report workarounds by using WiFi access points only, removing extra saved access points, or resetting Maps ('Options' > 'Tools' > 'Reset Google Maps).

Google Maps is becoming more and more like a real GPS solution with the addition of "Places of Interest" and customisable Favourite places like "Home" and "Work" so you don't even have to be awake to commute!

Some POIs are lacking, and others are in odd places (in the limited time I've had looking at Bristol with it :D) but it seems to work well, and for free, you can't do much better!

Now all we need is caching of maps!

Does this support "My maps"?

It would be completely awesome to be able to send someone a link to a PC-built map that has loads of stuff on it that they can then browse on their GPS enabled phone.

I have a colleague over from US for a few months and such a feature would be ideal (given that I've just this minute send him the link to said map :D )

...and the ability to configure location for its temporary stuff + cached maps! It always fills up the main memory on my Diamond, while there's loads of space available on the internal storage.

It doesn't seem to be filling up the internal storage on my Qtek 8500 StrTrk anymore, they seem to have fixed the bug that put everything into local storage, even if you selected Storage Card during installation. Thats great for me since my phone has only just over 18mb local storage (only 5.65 free now). I tried browsing around the map, zooming in and out then switching to the About screen, the available storage didn't decrease at all.

Devices:
02 XDA Mini S running SNN WM6.1 Diamond Edition
Qtek 8500 running WM6.1 Clean v0.4

Will have to give it a try - thanks!

(few minutes later) Yes! I can confirm, watching the free space left in both, main memory and "internal storage" - that's how the built-in card is called on Diamond. Now the main memory is unaffected, while "internal storage" goes down after running and playing with maps. Got latest Google Maps installed in "internal storage".

This version fixed the "transit lines" layer for me, too. Previously when I enabled it on a view that showed transit lines, many of the map tiles would flash on and off.

Hi all...
I am also thinking to try
Google Maps 3.2.1 because I like Google Maps 3D views.
From that we are able to any place of the world.
