I had the same problem. I could not upgrade to DXIA5, because I got the incorrect software version.
When I entered the Country Preconfiguration with *#81230*#, because I could not use this suggestion:

Press the 'dial' key to the left of the optical pad to bring up the dialer
* With the onscreen keypad input *#1546792*#
* Select 'Preconfiguration'
* Enter code *#81230*# and select OK
* Select 'Singapore', with the default Operator
* Accept this, DEVICE WILL HARD RESET
* Run update, and all should be well.

In the Preconfiguration I could not find Singapore. So I was stuck.

The only solution that worked is the same rom DXIA5 customized by XRay Man. This worked perfectly.
From there I even upgraded to DXIH1, a semi official rom, I think the links are offered Secany.

Thanks.

Had to upgrade to HH3 - found a link on the forum.

Then do the country hack - to phillipines.

Do the hack for the version in the registry.

Then i was able to update.
