Hello,

I have been lurking the forums for quite a while now, trying to figure out what I need to flash my Omnia i910 from Verizon. I have over 500 contacts, and by flashing I'm almost positive that I'll lose all of them. I have Sprite Backup, but I'm not sure if that will save my contacts.

What do you guys do to carry your contacts over when you flash?

Thanks in advance

I use PIM Backup. Also, you can save your contacts on your computer via activesync.

Buy me a drink if I helped you out. :)

I tried My Phone and ended up with double contacts after connecting to my computer. MyPhone put them on, and then Activesync put them on again
:D

Had to go through and delete like 150 contacts >.<

Buy me a drink if I helped you out. :)

Thanks for the quick reply's guys, I'll definitely try them out.
Also what do ROM do you think I should start out with? I've tried before, but failed to flash, and backed out like a little girl because I didn't want to brick my phone. However, I learned more about flashing and I think I am ready.

Will this ROM be good for first time?
http://www.modaco.com/content/i910-specifi...for-omnia-i910/

I read from another post that the GPS works, and its google map verified ( http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/samsung/...-omnia-gps.html )

I do, however, want an interface like THIS - ( http://www.youtube.c...h?v=XVsVF7vgYKo ) PLEASE HELP ME !

PS im using Windows Mobile Device Center to put things on my onmia

THANK YOU!

you have to flash that one first before you can flash any cooked roms!

@necosino if you go to the My Phone's website and go to your account there is a button the will delete duplicate contacts you will be donre in 2 seconds, then resync your phone using My Phone and you are set!!

Check out my stickied post here, it will walk you through flashing.

On Verizon's i910, we got a leaked ROM from a guy that all of the custom ROMs are built off of. You need to flash that FIRST before you flash one of the custom ROMs.

An i900 ROM will BREAK your phone!!! Only use a ROM made for the i910.

I use Blazing Wolf's ROM

Buy me a drink if I helped you out. :)

Hmm, maybe I'll check it out, or just stick to using activesync to restore them :D I don't think I'll flash again for a while though..

Nah, I think I am going to wait at least a few weeks. (That's a long time for a flasher).

Buy me a drink if I helped you out. :)

Hey, we got the DPRAM error, and were able to get around it! ( I walked him through the process on AIM)

Here's what we did:
Close UMDL When it shows the RED error.
Unplug Phone
Pull Battery
Restart UMDL, select non-DPRAM at top, load img and click detect
Reinsert battery
Plug in phone
Turn on

And it worked!

It was weird, towards the end, UMDL said it was trying to open COM5, but it finished.. Who knows..

Buy me a drink if I helped you out. :)

Indeed, I didn't mention to him the fact that in 99% of the cases, that error results in a bricked phone :D

I agree, MS My Phone is KILLER, I almost cannot believe that its a microsoft product. You can sync contacts, music, pictures, documents, videos and it syncs it up every night for you. Simple interface too! 200mb limitation however, So don't plan on backing up all your music/videos there.

All these ways work fine (and I use them occasionally) but the easiest way for me is simply to copy/backup the PIM.VOL (in the root folder) to a storage card; reflash; then copy it back when done rebooting the inital time.

Note: After rebooting you may have to first rename the current PIM.VOL to something else (like PIMX.VOL) then copy your old good one over to the root folder.

That's the quickest and easiest way to do it in my opinion. Otherwise, PIM Backup and/or MyPhone works Ok too.

dude its a windows mobile phone, hook it to you computer and sync it to a PST file with outlook... then when you flash back, re sync.

Outlook is also a much easier way to add in all the good details of your contacts and then push it to you phone. Just dont add a photo with outlook, it auto sizes them down to real small, and they look funny when viewed on the phone.
