[teaser]Do you like the look of the Omnia 2 / GT-i8000 but wish it had a keyboard? [/b]Well, maybe the Samsung Louvre B7610 (aka the Omnia Pro) is the answer to your prayers! :D[/b]

Pictured below courtesy of GPSandCo and the 'Makram', the device features:
  • Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (upgradeable to 6.5) with multiple custom UIs (Pro + Media UIs with switch button)
  • 800MHz CPU
  • 1GB ROM (!)
  • 3.55" 800 x 480 WVGA (AMOLED) display
  • Quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) / tri-band 7.2Mbps UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (1800/1900/2100 MHz).
  • 5.1 Megapixel autofocus camera with flash
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • FM Radio with RDS
  • Accelerometer
  • DivX certified
  • Slide out QWERTY keyboard
  • 1500mAh battery
  • 112mm x 58mm x 16mm
  • microUSB!
Thank goodness Samsung are finally going to banish their proprietary connector in favour of microUSB!

Release date is reportedly 'August 2009 (maybe later cause the current rom is slow as hell)'... :D

This too looks like one sweet device... ;)

Excellent!
I was tempted a little with the omnia 2, but the whole software keypad thing was utting me off.
A REAL keyboard, and 1GB ram make this an absolute winner!!

Now, which carrier do you think this will come to in the UK?
And will it be released before the PRE comes out here??

What about onboard storage, or Expandable storage?

That's one of the things I love about my Omnia.

WOW!! That's a very nice looking phone. Knowing Verizon they will not get a CDMA ver till Aug 2010 or never ;) . If they come out with this phone for Verizon I'll be there. That looks leaps and bounds past the omnia, and a definite contender for the G1. We all know how it compares to the iphone :D

Thanks for the info Paul.

Two questions:
- __Scroll_wheel__ -- mechanical (my preferred) or optical (Omnia) -- I need one?
- Are we sure wrt RAM / ROM ? PDadb.net reports that as 256MB/128MB ?

Thanks

Florian

I've looked at a bunch of pictures and videos of this new "Omnia Pro", but none show the upper or lower edge where the 3.5mm headphone jack and MicroUSB are supposed to be. Can someone post or point me to pictures or videos with a top and lower edge views of this phone? Like others here I'd also like to get some details on the layout of the memory (RAM/ROM) and more details on the CPU board. Dimensions. specially, the thickness would also be nice to have.

Thanks...

It looks like Sammy will continue to hide all ports with a rubber/plastic cover.

I pulled that pic from this video, which seems to be the first 'hands-on' video of the OmniaPRO I've seen, yet.

avail. in Italian and English

Dimensions:
4.43 x 2.28 x 0.64

ADVERT LINK REMOVED has a great size comparison tool, which allows you to pit different phones against each other and 'everyday household' items.

http://www.ADVERT LINK REMOVED.com/htmls/Samsung-Om...re-pc_3792.html

just pick a phone from the drop down lists, and follow the instructions to drag and drop. btw, the OMniaPRO is slightly (very) slimmer, shorther and narrower than the htc TP2 (and only thicker than the iPhone 3G S).
