When I take pics with my Omnia camera, they look SWEET! Problem is it divides them up into different sub folders in DCIM.

Example DCIM>100SSCAM DCIM>101SSCAM DCIM>102SSCAM, etc...

WHY does it do this?? Does it have a folder size limit then start a new folder?

It's quite a pain in the rear, because when your flipping thru pics you know you took on the same date, they're all divided up.

My temporary solution is to view the files from a PC and combine them, but I don't think I should have to do this type of maintenence. Any ideas?

The help of MoDaCo forum is GREATLY appreciated. BEST Omnia forum on the web.

Its not a limit as such but it only allows 100 shots per folder.

Most digital cameras do this too!

This reply is kind of pointless (but not totally <_< )

ONE of the custom ROMs I played around with had somehow made the camera save ALL the photos into the same folder (100SCAM), AND they were named by the date they were taken. It was awesome. Sadly, I changed to another ROM and yeah - back to the old way... But it is definitely poosible to fix it.

Ok, here`s what I did - copy the camera.exe from below to your windows folder - it`ll change the names of the pictures you take to the date_time and will not create more folders :)
This will work for you too jason07 <_<

Attached File  Camera.exe (1.43MB)
Number of downloads: 441

Attachment Camera.exe

Hi. I also have the same issue but when I tried to copy the camera.exe to my windows folder in 'my device' I got the message that a file with the same name already exists. What should I do?

Many thanks
Scott

You just need to overwrite it.

When I developed mod CameraX (photo\video - YYMMDD_HHMMSS) I specially did not begin to do saving of all files in one folder am dangerously because at its filling a plenty photo\video suffices files viewing and the manipulation to the given folder because of indexation will be slowed down !!

How do you overwrite a windows file - camera.exe is a hidden and read-only file in windows and my Omnia won't let me overwrite it.

er... thanks for that....

No it wasnt a pointless reply. Many digital camera's do the same thing so that when you go to view the picture folder the display software responds in an acceptable time.

rather than optimize the gallery software they split the pictures into folders of 100 pics so there is a gaurunteed response time.

Samsung have adopted the same method for the Omnia.

When I use File Explorer, it wouldnt let me either but if you use Total Commander and just move or copy the CAMERA.EXE file over to WINDOW..that should do it.

Now if someone can somehow fix something up to help with the setting of the camera..like saving the camera setting as far as like contrast..or brightness..or sharpness. Since everytime you exit, the settings go back to default

http://www.pspmyspace.com/omnia/2009/02/om...a-firmware.html

Here is a link were you can update your camera firware;)
He then saves iso and other options but still not the contrast or the brightness or sharpness

The camera saving is cool but there is an issue with it and that is the camera doesn't pick up the orientation like the other 1 did so u have 2 manually go and change them from landscape to portrait or vice versa. Normally when up put the photos onto the pc it picks up if the photos were originally taken in landscape or portrait.

Edit: It seems to be working now
