Hi , i have just got my first smartphone only 3 days ago and it is a vodafone branded unlocked handset, i am on o2 sim card.

I have spent over 4 days now trying with no luck to get any features via any connections working, gprs, wifi, internet messenger anything. Ok so i called voda phone who suggested i upgrade the firmware so i did this from the samsung site from PDA XXHHD/ACHH3 phone BUHH2 upgraded to PDA XXHJ6/ACHJ2 phone BUHJ1. But still it doesnt connect to my wifi or this opera browser or internet. I have had settings sent to phone from samsung and nothing.

I after much desperation have tried using on vodafone oafter hard reset and new settings but still nothing.
Where am i going wrong? will flashing the rom (read a bit about it , but not weel up as yet) remove the vodaphone stuff? and allow me to use it properly ? every time i try internet it phones out voda phone even though i changed the settings ?

I was reading a thread here but had to regester and then lost the page.

If anyone can help me to sort it out i will be very pleased for your help.

kat

Welcome to the site B)
The best place to look for upgrading the ROM will be the Omnia section of the site. Upgrading to a non-Vodafone ROM will indeed remove the Vodafone settings.

Check your network settings are correct, we have a list of networks and countries HERE
As for WiFi check your Router settings and the network setup you have if you are at home as the Routers firewall can sometimes be a pain to setup.
You could try WiFi at a local Coffee house etc that allow free WiFi for customers and see if you canconnect then.

Hi thanks for the network list i have followed the settings and its still dials pp.vodafone.co.uk ? i will take it to a free wifi place and see if i can connect it. I have connected my sons xbox today via wifi and it was no problem detected my router put the network key in and off it went , i have never had so much problems with connecting anything before.
