It's not an essential tool but I used it when I am too lazy to pull out the stylus for really tiny selections... don't mind having it handy...

I think Samsung put it there thinking it will replace the stylus.... but they didn't think it through..

It does indeed: when i tested qbus sector kuanchai wm6.5, i was a stylus addict because no finger mouse. Question: Owner of an Omnia and not of a Diamond, where do i put the stylus? In my pocket? Forget about it, the finger is so useful! I do use it and I will use it, and if there´s no way to have it, if i have to use a stylus, i´ll buy myself the htc diamond 2, at least it sports a place for the stylus, not relying on my pocket...

Usage of Finger-mouse scrolling function:

Set your mouse to 4way

1. one line scrolling: pull your finger over the mouse fast
2. two or more lines scrolling: pull your finger over the mouse gently slow

It is really useful during file-browsing and opera Internet browsing.

Less than 100 replys after a few days is not much for this forum. But the count has stayed about 60/40 split. I do not think that is so overwhelming as to get rid of it.
IMHO

Seems like alot of people use it and it would be a shame to get rid of it from future roms, dosn't take that much room does it?

Mouse is one of the most useful distinctive features of Samsung Omnia. I got used to using touch pad style mouse on a laptop and find it extremely helpful on my Samsung Omnia.

Internet browsing was mentioned as one area but it is useful everywhere where precision in tapping is required. It is an alternative to stylus and often more convinient as it is always on and does not require taking the stylus out.

I was skipping any ROM that did not include a working mouse till now and intend to do so in the future even if it will mean staying on old ROMs.

I use it like crazy because my damned fingers are too big for the life of me B) (at least for the tiny selections, for closing programs or to use the HTC task mngr, for file explorer, links in opera, drop down menus when looking to associate a ringtone to a contact, alarm tone, ringtone, etc.) AND it's useful because it's so damn accurate... :(

I used to use it A LOT. I had an iPaq hx4700 that had a tiny trackpad, which worked exactly like the finger sensor on the Omnia. So I used the mouse a lot to click on some tiny things on the screen (mainly some apps that aren't touch-friendly).

But I had to stop using it since I updated to a ROM that had a bug with the mouse, and I'm too lazy to switch to another ROM.

One thing I hated was the arrow floating around the screen when I didn't need it. It'd be nice if it simply disappeared after a few seconds of inactivity.

I voted NO. I keep the nail on my little finger sharpened to a point. It's great for fine Omnia work (and taking out eyeballs). B)
Of course, I'm female and a sharp pinkie is a perfectly acceptable weapon of war. :(

since i flashed my omnia to winmo6.5 on the same day i got it, i don't miss the fingermouse a lot lol... but i did try it before flashing and was surprised by how accurate it was.
i'm sure i would use it sometimes if it was working in winmo6.5 but it's not important enough to make me flash stock rom again...

seriously, the mouse is and will be a thing of the past.

On Omnia II, i dont think (almost 100% positive) there will be NO mouse.

With the way the tech is heading, is all about touch and gestures...no need to move an icon around a screen when u can simply touch where you want it to be.....

Redundant....but i know some of you are die hard mouse fans.....you will soon forget and get over it ;)

It would be nice to have it working in our ROMs tho, as it is supposed to :D, but it is not crucial or vital for daily usage (for most of us). But on a working front it would be nice to see as it should :D

I use it and continue to use it until Microsoft decides to build a well designed and FULL Touch UI.

There are times when you NEED more precise selections throughout the UI and I don't carry the damn stylus because there's no way to put in IN the device! And don't tell me you use the feminine mascara-like stylus because I will not believe you! LOL... :D (unless you are a woman)

The Finger Mouse is sometimes clumsy and jerky, but it's the only option I have.

Period!

Cheers!
RayanMX

I use it whenever i fail to select what i intended to (which is like all the time, considering the size of my fingertips)

i don't upgrade to wm6.5 just because the mouse doesn't work..
