Hello Everyone!

I've seen many separate posts on this subject in the forum recently... I assume from new users. I've posted the following in other threads as well, but I'm starting this thread so that all can come and see how to do this. It works!!!

1) Using a registry editor find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\

2) Find the entry called... SuspendResume. Change the string from 1501 (default on my i910, yours may be different) to GPRS_bye_if_device_off.

3) Find the entry called... CacheTime. Change the value from 600 (my system default) to 60 (my preferred). This is the amout of time in seconds after which your GPRS connection will automatically terminate when the signal has been idle for as long.

4) Soft reset your device.

Again, the connection will auto-disconnect when it has been idle, and it will stay disconnected until it is activated by the user or another application. Also, I cannot take credit for this tweak because I found it elsewhere a while back, but surprisingly enough, I've seem my former posts copied verbatim on other forums.

I followed the directions and it works great. I set my connection to auto-disconnect after 2 mins. However, the above procedure also makes a press of the END key disconnect GPRS immediately. Even during a phone call! Really annoying! Anyone know how to combat that?In settings ->buttons ->end key, the End key setting is sent to Lock Device. Holding the end key will still lock the device, so that's not the problem. But a quick push of the end key will disconnect the GPRS connection.

IN FACT IT PRESSING THE END KEY WILL DISCONNECT GPRS EVEn, WHEN THE SCREEN IS LOCKED OR THE PHONE IS IN STANDBY MODE! I just noticed this part and that explanes why my downloads keep failing. Halp

If you do not want to disconnect GPRS with the END (call) button, you can set the value of the following registry key to 1:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\(GPRS connection name)\AlwaysOn

Or just disable it under settings?

I cant enter that string into Suspend Resume. It says that it is an invalid hex format.

I am using an I900 thoug, should this matter?

I just cant get that to work on my i910. Shame too cause Im assuming it would save a lot of battery power.
Nevermind I actually had to delete the #777 that was also there and it works like a charm! Thanks!

I am using Microsoft Exchange. If I use the settings above and want to stay connected when receiving e-mails the connection will disable when idling (when not getting an e-mail for some time). So I assume I have to disable this registry entry? Or is there any other way to fix this?

I use the Advance Config Tool for this but the connections sometimes remains stable. I download every 60 minutes my mails and after this i wanna that the internet connections will be closed. Sometimes the connection will be closed but sometimes it remains. Any ideas?
