Mugen Power, kings of high quality replacement batteries for mobile devices, have announced the release of two extended batteries for the HTC Shift!

Regular readers will know that while I applauded the Shift in general, the killer blow for me was the appalling battery life. It now looks as though a solution of sorts is here :D

Two different batteries are available to order now from the Mugen Power site (with stock arriving shortly), specifically the 4400mAh HLI-X9500ML @ $169.95 and the 6600mAh HLI-X9500XL @ $239.95. The standard Shift battery is 2700mAh.

Although not cheap, the batteries are certainly capacious, and despite the inevitable added bulk, are likely to answer the prayers of many a Shift owner.

All we need now is a ROM refresh from HTC to fix those little issues that prevent the machine being the great device it could be... HTC? HTC? :D

It would be good if HTC was to do a lower cost Shift and refresh the line for £500. Keep the same touch screen form factor, but switch to Intel's Atom processor, Windows XP and a SSD to save on power.

My perfect shift:

- Slightly larger screen with 1024x600
- Intel Atom
- 2GB RAM
- XP (or OSX, that ain't gonna happen tho, lol!)
- 2.5" SATA disk
- Battery life of 3 hours
- Full resolution use and full functionality on WinMo bit

Good specs.

Any news on a Shift refresh? The specs look outdated compared to new netbooks coming out.

PLEASE UPDATE THE SHIFT HTC :D

I have a meet n greet with some people from HTC tomorrow. I have some questions myself about the shift and possibly a new shift.
