TomTom NAVIGATOR 7 - confirmed
Autor: Dawid Gatti Dzień: 2008-05-07 Godzina: 18:21:09 Author: David Gatti Day: 2008-05-07 Time: 18:21:09
TomTom has confirmed to me that HTC Daimond will be sold already installed NAVIGATOR 7

Since there is a very large percentage of piracy NAVIGATORa 6, the company TomTom has decided to resign from the sale of the programme for cooperation with companies producing Pocketpc.
The situation is so severe that not even the existence of a file exe NAVIGATOR 7.
The program is permanently embedded in ROM system, it is not even able to obtain a program to the review.

If tomtom think that embedding it into a rom will stop people getting it they are wrong if its in the rom it can come out , by stopping the release to legal owners of version 6 ( and there are alot of honest people out there ) they are asking for it to be hacked off a rom , first it was the smarphone who lost tomtom and now the older ppc phones wont be able to get the update which means no new map updates , is not a wise move on tomtoms side as this will give the competion the market , the new version of route 66 verion 8 is way better than the old tomtom is and so far had not been cracked as each map is bought and linked to the phones imei and model number so its a load of bull that tomtom i not releasing it because of hackers , if hey improved thier security within the maps then this would not be a problem as in route 66 verytime you use it it checks the imei with traffic and weather addons which require internet , which at the same time checks the map you have if its not legal its locked , if they think people will buy a new ppc just to get the latest verions of tomtom then i think they are in for a shock , plus the price of the ppc phones will be more expensive as you will have to pay for tomtom 7 if its a full version or you get a trial version like the nokia phone had , also with the differnet roms around from orange and t-mobile the question will be will the operators be prepared to pay for the tomtom addon , i think not or they will just rip off the customer even more :D

What makes me laugh is tomtom stick their head in the ground even when people report beta leaks etc.
And now they finally realise that piracy is an issue, when everyone else knew this years ago.

Thumper ... don't mean to be rude ... but here, have some full stops. ..................................

If they have stopped producing Navigator 7 and only including it in ROM, then it will be the end of the road for me. Pardon the pun. I shall switch across to CoPilot.

I need someone innovative who might realise that there are pirating issues, but deals with them. Someone who releases up to date maps, and listens and responds to customer queries.

Actually, this may convince me to archive my Treo 750v as a Sat Nav device, having bought Navigator 6, and switch to a Blackberry. The new Bold looks very nice. I've just spent a whole couple of days getting my Treo re-built (messagingapp.exe suddenly failed), only to have CamerAware fail to work (God knows why, it worked perfectly before!).

IMHO

Embedding Navigator 7 in the rom is simply ASKING the hackers to break it. Like a Red Light (sorry) to a bull. It is about time they improved the security to match the competition but putting it in the rom is like using a bucket of water to put out a match. However I'm sure some hacker somewhere will find the right drill for the bottom of that bucket!

Wrong. It has been cracked and can be relatively easily found (if you know where of course :D )

I've had that map version since last year. I guess they are trying to drum up some business...

I've recently been using co-pilot on the touch plus on tmobile, i'm actually quiet impressed with it, you dont need to pay extra for traffic updates and seems to do everything tomtom does, why does everyone hate co-pilot so much.

Tomtom can't be so stupid to think it won't be hacked because they are embedding it in the rom, the movie industry has spent billions trying to stop piracy, and the software industry has spent the same if not more. Are tomtom just naive? They are going to kill off their market because no one is going to want to buy an "old version" of the software.

Yup, got the same e-mail. Visited it, selected UK map and 6.75 showed up. That's what I have installed on my phone since last year.

Just had a closer look on the map version on my phone - it says v675.1409

The main application has been cracked but a world map is useless for day to day navigation , unless you are flying :D the regional maps are not yet cracked but it wont be long until its done , same goes for tomtom 7 thats on those sites allready as well fully working :o

Who hates CoPilot?

Certainly no one who has tried CP7!

He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

So what TomTom are basically saying, version 7 will only come embedded in the ROM of a phone, and not avalible as a box product from their website?

If so time to upgrade my CP6 to CP7
