The next build of apptodate includes support for non-downloadable updates, e.g. for ROMs or major version upgrades of applications.

By omitting the caburl XML element in the online XML, you can create the effect shown below (up to date on the left, new version available on the right), a 'notification' for a user to come to your site for the update
