If you would like to download the AppToDate BETA (and it should be very clearly stressed this is Beta atm!), then use the following CAB:

http://www.apptodate.org/get

AppToDate is, of course, self updating, so you should theoretically only need to download the CAB once! :D

For ROM chefs, there is also an OEM package that is updated in line with the main CAB:

http://donald.modaco...ptodate.oem.zip

This is untested however (as I don't generally cook ROMs), so please let me know if it works :(

Looks shiny! Nicely informed me of the latest Nested Tasks build :D Presumably the info box can include a change log, for example?

I'm getting an infinite install loop. Installed the CAB, ran the program, it downloads and installs a new version. Start that, and it downloads and installs a new version. Etc :D

EDIT: Also, please put the link in Start Menu\Programs, not Start Menu itself !

So it keeps asking you to redownload and install the latest apptodate or a different app?

Which device and which language / regional settings?

Chainfire mentions it is actually DOWNLOADING, rather than just listing.

Chainfire - will check shortcut location, should be in Programs!

Ok, first, this is what happened in more detail:

1. Download CAB to PC
2. Copy CAB to device
3. Install CAB
4. Run AppToDate (again, please move the shortcut to the Programs submenu)
5. Without clicking anything, i.e., this runs automatically if I start AppToDate:
"Checking for 1 Update"
6. "An update is available for AppToDate that must be installed before you can continue!"
7. Click "OK"
8. Automatic download and install of new AppToDate version. GOTO 4.

Device is unbranded original HTC TyTN II, regional settings set to Netherlands/Dutch, but device language is English.

As I was running the earlier version, Ive just launched the app:

1) App to date is out of date and must be updated first ... click ok to download update.
2) Update downloads
3) Update says it will remove old version before installing new version
4) New version installs.

Excellent ... working fine, and as I would have expected !!

However ... as a user who had just launched a program, would it not be wise to:
1) Launch app to date
2) find out it is out of date, and update itself
3) relaunch itself so the user may continue what they were originally going to do.

Or is step 3 awkward to achieve?

Also ... I wonder ... is it worthwhile seeing if the app can be selected to auto-run at sync time. So if this is the only time a user connects their pocket PC, it will also update then, as well as manually running it?

Yes, the act of connecting to a PC could launch the app and sync!

It'd also make sense to relaunch apptodate after updating itself, noted.
