Anyone has this problem... phone notifies me of a new text msg, I go to my inbox, and find I have to scroll down to find the new message. It seems as if the time of arrival is like 5 hours earlier. I know the msg was not sent then because its a reply to a message I just sent! Is there a fix for this? Or is it a network issue? Then the next message I get has the correct time. Freakin weird!

Thanks!

My Kaiser does this along with a host of other time related weirdness. I never really found a satisfactory solution I'm afraid :D

I had the same issue when I had my blackjack 1/i607. I did a hard reset as there was no other way to fix it. That is what worked for me....

It is quite frustrating.

check your time zone in your phone... rarely is the default to the phone correct.

If you ActiveSync with a PC verify that your PC time zone is correct also or ActiveSync with change it again on you to your PC setting.

I have tried everything except a hard reset...

I really don't want to reset and have to reload/reset everything. <_<

I'm using Rogers. I really think it's Rogers fault. Are all y'all that are having problems with the wrong time using Rogers/Fido as well?

Caveman, I'm on Rogers as well and my SMS is off by 4 hrs.
I checked cabs and other install /hacks on howard forums and xda developers and no luck.

Best temp workaround I found is to set your auto update time to Off, put your time zone to Casablanca and set the time and date yourself manually. SMS will now come in at the proper timestamp.

CON: When you connect to your PC, your phone jumps ahead 4 hrs while doing the active sync and u have to change it back when done.

I keep looking around for solutions. This prob only began during the DST switch in the spring, wonder if it corrects itself in the fall when we roll back an hour.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I noticed this problem when we switched to PDT as well. For a while the phone kept changing its timezone and going back to PST (one hour off) but now the time stays fixed but SMS are 4 hours off and SMS from MSN are 6 hours off. Anyway, thanks again for the tip.

when traveling even 10 miles down the road, i sometimes get this problem. Mine is usually only behind an hour or so, but this is a problem with your network, not your phone. The only thing your phone is doing is swiching cell towers, which appearently dont have the same time. :D (I use AT&T)

I've been having the same problem on my unlocked i617 (BJ2) on the Rogers network. If I put the SIM card in another phone, the SMS timestamps are accurate. However, all received text messages are off by 4 hours in my i617, yet the sent ones have the right time stamp.

I've tried a hard reset and that did NOT fix the problem.

I tried the "fix" that involved manually changing the time as mentioned, but that screwed up all my appointment times in my schedule/calendar. So that was no good either.

Calling Rogers doesn't help because they just blame the unlocked phone, and won't support it.

What now?

I was hoping the switch back of Daylight Savings Time would fix this problem since it first
began in spring when the DST switch occurred.

I put all my phone settings back to eastern US, auto update time to ON.
Sent myself a txt msg from Rogers web site and it's 5 hrs off.
Grrr....

I've scoured the internet, so far no working solution for BJ2 users.

I'm still having the SMS timestamp problem (unlocked AT&T BJ2 on Rogers)
I got my gf a rogers branded BJ2, and her timestamps are fine.

I backedup her registry using CE REG EDIT and did a registry compare to mine.
There are A LOT of differences but nothing obvious in terms for timestamps, sms, etc..

If anyone wants to take a crack at it, I can email u a copy of the Rogers BJ2 registry
to compare it to your own and see if u can come up with something.

I posted a fix for this sms timestamp error in the moto q9h forum, but maybe tweaking it a little will help you out. Follow the steps, and maybe in stead of the "Motorola" key, you'll have a Samsung one, and then hopefully the steps will be the same from there.

Good luck!

PS- in case you didn't wanna go search, here's a short version of the registry hack:

HKLM
click Software
click Motorola (in your case Samsung, if there is one)
click RilDrv
show values in RilDrv
navigate to "LocalizeTimeStamp"
Change value to "0"
