If you're a former Palm user, you probably know that Resco make one of the most respected Palm backup solutions out there. They have now decided to enter the backup market for Pocket PC (challenging heavyweights such as the excellent 'Sprite Backup') with a Beta release of 'Resco Backup for Pocket PC'.

Available as a 14 day trial download from the new Resco Backup page, features include:

Never loose (sic) your data again

Resco Backup creates reserve copies of your PDA on the storage card. This data (called backup set) can be used to restore your device in case of problems.

Basic features:
  • Backup to the storage card
  • Full and custom backup
  • Full and custom restore
  • Backup compression
  • Safe encryption (uses industrial standard AES)
  • Fast incremental backup
  • Backup scheduling
Advanced features:
  • Integrity checking (Is the backup set corrupted?)
  • Customizable profiles (daily/weekly backups, separate backup of contacts...)
  • Compare backup set vs. device (Track changes)
  • Compare two backup sets
  • Manage your backup sets
  • Access backup sets on the desktop with any good zipper (no extract tool needed)

Given Resco's pedigree, i'm sure the application will be excellent, although I'm happy with my current solution personally (Sprite Backup, courtesy of MoDaCo Plus!)

If you do download and give it a try, let us know how it works out!

I used to have RescoBackup as my main backup solution during my Palm days, so I decide to gave it a try and pretty impressed by it.

It is much faster than SpriteBackup, much cleaner interface and generally is what I expected from Resco.

I am definitely buying this program and ditch my SpriteBackup.
