Does anyone else find it annoying the fact that when you press 2 on the keypad, T9 suggests the letter 'c' rather than the more obvious word 'a'. Is there any way round this?

I was wondering the same myself last night.
XT9 is quite annoying in a lot of ways and I think the only thing you can do is hope it learns your preference sooner rather than later.

That's strange, I get an A. I suspect you once typed in a single c, and the XT9 has registered this as a word in it's custom dictionary. In the old versions of T9, you could go in and change the custom dictionary, I don't see a directly link in the version I have now, perhaps someone else knows an easy way?

I too am suffering this frustrating issue. I have attempted using a couple of T9 editors on my Touch, but to no avail. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
