SDHC is getting big. Big in that capacities of up to 8GB are becoming available, and big as in popular, as prices are driven down my growing volumes. There is a catch though - to use the new SDHC format cards you need a device that supports them!

If you're using an Eten X500, M700, X500+ or X800, you've been somewhat out of luck. The devices do not ship with SDHC compatibility! That has now changed however, thanks to the community over at http://www.eten-users.eu/. There is now a simple software patch that adds SDHC support to all of the above devices, and is verified as working (I tried it on my X500+!)

The patch is a CAB file to run on your device, and of course... you use it at your own risk. ;)

Enjoy!

Hmm..... doesn't work on my X500 with a Sandisk 6GB SDHC card. Shows the top level of the SDHC card but will not go through the tree unfortunately.

In fact it's worse than that, after a soft reset I can't now see any SD cards at all. ;)

So whats the gossip? I have just bought a 6 GB microsd hc and have just downloaded the eten sdhc.cab file.....The problem is, I cant bring myself to install it. I have just got my M700 exactly as I want and am very pleased with the results I just don't fancy gambling it all on this update. If anyone else has any info on whether this works please post!

;) Yes I am a chicken!
