Now this is pretty cool!

I've been playing this morning with a new application christened 'vTap' from startup Veveo. vTap has two primary functions. Firstly it allows you to view video content syndicated from a wide variety of sources directly on your mobile, and secondly it turns your device into an ultra powerful interface to Wikipedia.

Available for FREE download immediately from http://www.veveo.net/wm.html for both Smartphons and Pocket PCs (or by pointing your device at http://vtap.com), vTap seems to work very well, particularly on a 3G or WiFi connection of course!

I've included some screenshots below of it in action, give it a try! ;) I think it'd be an awesome tool to have at a pub quiz too

P

PS It can play full screen too...

This was the only thing I installed yesterday and I did a soft reset in the evening and it would not accept my password. I'm just doing a hard reset now.
I use a simple 4 digit PIN and it has always worked before but I just got
'The password you have typed is incorrect'
it took a long time to take a password at all and was getting a countdown timer above the password entry keys on the screen which I don't remember seeing before as well.
I don't know if it was anything to do with this app - has anyone else had problems?

Thanks

re installed and no problem. Love this app!

The password is a bug in WM6 apparently which occasionally lets it 'forget' a password! ;) - nothing to do with vtap

Great app but I think they've missed a trick with this one. Why not include an image searcher and then push it as the ultimate Windows Mobile information search tool?

Text - Wikipedia
Images - Google Images or other
Video - Youtube / Google, as it is currently

The name would need work, vTap? Doesn't really sell the product.

This is one of the greatest WM apps I have used.

On my Vario II however, when a video plays in full screen, it is "upside down" when in landscape mode (ie with the keyboard open). Maybe this is only a problem on the Hermes?

is there a setting to change the full screen orientation ?

I've got the same problem on my Kaiser when viewing videos full-screen through Media Player.

Paul, do you know of a way to invert the Media Player display??

I work for Veveo Inc. who provide the vTap service. We have had a few reports of the problem with the upside down video. We are looking into the issue. When we have a solution, I will let you know.

I have found a device which I am able to reproduce this issue on. We are looking into it. I will let you know when I have an update on this.

Could someone who has the problem with the "upside down" video try the following?
I have been able to reproduce, and fix the problem with the following steps.
1 - Close the vTap client.
2 - Make sure the phone is open (keyboard exposed)
3 - Go to Settings/System/Screen
4 - Change the Orientation to "Left Handed"
5 - Close the phone (hide keyboard)
6 - Start the vTap client, and see if the videos now play properly.

We are still looking into why this is happening. Knowiing if this fixes your problem might help us solve it faster.

Thanks...

I also had the upside-down Video problem, with Media player and TCPMP, played around and did the same as above, solved!!

AwJm, could you tell me what version of firmware you are running on your phone? This can be determined by giong to Start/Settings/System/Device Information on your phone. I was able to reproduce a similar problem using an HTC 8525 with older firmware. Once I updated the firmware, the problem went away.
Thanks....

This is the application I have been looking for months!!! It's the only application that lets me stream video on the T-Mobile proxy connection. Perfect!!! I hope they keep it free 'cause I love it just the way it is!!
