  • Interests:The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.

Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows Vista

The Windows Mobile Device Center enables you to set up new partnerships, synchronize content and manage music, pictures and video with Windows Mobile powered devices (Windows Mobile 2003 or later). The Windows Mobile Device Center combines an efficient business-data synchronization platform with a compelling user experience. The Windows Mobile Device Center helps you to quickly set up new partnerships, synchronize business-critical information such as e-mail, contacts and calendar appointments, easily manage your synchronization settings, and transfer business documents between your device and PC.

This new version of the Windows Mobile Device Center contains key improvements and new features to support Windows Mobile 6 devices. The Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 is only supported on Windows Vista.

Key updates in Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 include:
Windows Mobile 6 feature support
Information Rights Management activation - Automatically configure the Windows Mobile 6 device to open IRM-protected documents and files
HTML mail – Set up your Windows Mobile 6 device to sync HTML-formatted mail
Certificate Enrollment - Acquire certificates through the PC the Windows Mobile 6 device is currently connected to
Allow data connections on the Windows Mobile 6 device when connected to the PC
File synchronization for smartphones – Synchronize files with your Windows Mobile 6 devices, including both touch screen and non-touch screen devices
Automatic device authentication - Connect the Windows Mobile device to the PC without the need to enter the device-lock PIN every time upon connect
Product Registration - Register your Windows Mobile device and get connected to information and offers available for your device

Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 is fully compatible with Windows Mobile 2003 devices and later.

I found this while browsing the MS WindowsMobile site. Though I knew it was coming...I'm not 100% sure if it was JUST posted tonight or earlier.

I'm most excited about Smartphone File Synchronization, though there seem to be quite a few new features everyone else may get all jazzed up about! Enjoy Vista/WindowsMobile users!

So I downloaded it and I have run the installation 3 times.

My WMDC still shows 6.0.something and there is nothing in there about syncing files.

What am I doing wrong?

Go to the sync setup and click on File sync (check box). (Same place where you choose which PIM apps to sync)

I would guess its not uninstalling 6.0 for you. Best to remove 6.0 in control panel, remove programs.

Be warned File Sync does not enable automatically. You need to go into setting to enable it.

@jimbouk...I dont think it installs until 6.0.xxx is closed and uninstalled which it does automatically. (But I guess there are exceptions).

I can synchronise 2 devices.
PDA (Dell-AximX51v) and SP(Qtek-8500) but not at the same time.
Only one by one.
