I'm readying a new version of my Pocket QuickView (PQV) image viewer for Pocket PC and SmartPhone. There are plenty of photo viewers out there, but the objective of the new version is to be faster, simpler and basically more useful than the competition. I've been playing with the other company's image viewing products and I've found them to be full of functionality, but inconvenient to use. It takes too many clicks and too much looking around just to do the simple tasks I am after. Here are the basic goals of PQV 4.0:

1) Support a wide variety of image formats (including TIFF/FAX formats)
2) Display images faster than any other viewer
3) Accomplish each task in the fewest number of steps
4) Optimize JPEG file handling to be fast and full featured
5) Do a few things, but do them well: viewing, screen capture, slide show, image to email
6) Fast and convenient file browser which displays a preview thumbnail at high speed.
7) Low cost (est. retail price of $9.99)

I'm looking for opinions from all of you on what features you want to see in this product and how you want to be able to use them. The previous version of PQV (3.0) had a ton of features such as batch conversion of files, various thumbnail and edit modes and so on. I'd like to stick to just the basics with this product. I want it to be the product of choice when you're looking to browse or show off your images.

All suggestions which get used will get you a free copy of the program.

Thanks,
Larry Bank

The program has simple slide shows, but I think it's too complicated to do what you ask. To be able to send a slideshow to someone else with music implies that I would need to package the photos and music into a portable file which someone else could use without any other software. This implies some sort of video encoding. That is really beyond the scope of my work. I'm looking to keep it fast and simple for both me and the users.

No thumbnail view of all pics in a directory, non standard directory browser, can't select all file types to be associated with app - yet I still find myself using it - must be doing something right :)

Thanks

Hi Confucious,
You're the first to make a comment - thanks :)

The thumbnail view is there - just click "Options->Toggle View" from the file browser

File type association is not working at all yet, bear with me a little longer as I start to fill in the missing pieces.
