Hi guys, does anyone know of a conversion application which will allow me to convert .flv files into a file type that is playable on a WM5 smartphone? I'm using TCPMP as my media player so any of the file types which this supports would be great, preferably free as well! Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Hi,

I have used the following to convert flv's to mpg's. It is freeware and does the job pretty well, there are also lots of encoding options to play around with:

http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html.

However, various virus checkers do flag it up as containing a trojan but on doing some research this does appear to be unfounded (as can be the case) and i haven't had any malicious problems with it.

Post hoc, ergo proctor hoc.
(After, therefore because of it).

Current: T-Mobile MDA Vario II with copilot on Flext 35 with W&W std.
Previous: XDA IIi, SPV E200 & SPV plus a number of non smartphones/pocket PC's.

now you can do it natively

This is a plugin for the PPC version of an FLV plugin for TCPMP which also works on Smartphone
  • Download the zip file
  • Copy the .plg files to your TCPMP folder
  • run TCPMP
  • go to Options->Settings->Select Page->File Associations
  • Select Flash Video from the list and hit OK
  • On your desktop PC use a site like this one to download the a .flv file
  • Copy it to the phone
  • Play it
  • celebrate

Any Video Converter

You can search for it on Google/Softpedia/Download.com

Many options.
Works well.
Even has options for Youtube etc. vids.
Freeware with only one nag screen at the end of a (batch) conversion.
Works well for me.
"Super" seems to want internet access to work, which seems a bit odd to me.
