Anybody with an I600 suffering from dust under the screen?

Mine is under a week old and there is already a collection of particles in the top right hand corner of the screen. Bad enough for me to return the device for a replacement.

I thought the dust days were long gone.

@Pagemakers
Can I just check - you have an SGH-I600 yeah? (like the Blackjack, and not one of those flip-phones)

And while I'm at it, what network are you on?
I've never had a 3G phone before, and I'm not clear on whether I need to "setup" the 3G to work on T-Mobile. I'm told there are no APN-type settings - does it just work?

The i600 like the Blackjack.

I'm on T-mobile. 3G is automatic if you are in a 3G area. I think you may have to ask t-mobile to enable HSDPA on your account (no cost). This is then shown as H when in a hi-speed 3G area.

Any other owners with this problem. Mine is quite bad. Looks like it is coming form the vol up/down buttons.

New i600 (three weeks old) and no dust issue yet.

But the battery cover sucks. Removing it is a pain in the a... ;)

Mine is a week old and inside the top left of the screen is very dusty. Sending it back for a replacement.

And can you remove the battery cover easily?

I almost have to use brute force just to remove it. Not something you want to do with a 450 € phone...

This is especially bad because of the low battery life when using HSDPA or Wi-Fi I have to use the second battery sometimes.

I almost crack the screen when removing the battery the force to do it is so tough!

I have the samsung i600V (vodafone SFR french GSM operator set up), but I haven't experienced your problems with dust under the screen.

I'd say I have a hundred grains of dust in mine.

Mine's been in very dusty jeans pocket today and appears to have a few grains already - barely been used for 24 hours now!

TBH it's not really a problem ... so far at least
You can only see them with the screen off, and generally that means it's in my pocket anyway

I was trying to think of a way of plugging the gap, but it's tiny (I think I can see where it's getting in)
What I need is something like bath sealant, but black and in a tube with a tiny nozzle - any suggestions welcome

That SUCKS bad... particularly as the US BlackJack doesn't have the same problem.

A news post warning people is in order perhaps!

where exactly are you gettng the dust? I have it bwhere there is a join between the top and bott of the screen as there is a gap vetween where the protective front cover goes and the sides of the moulding for the main body of the phone but it isn't tracking back 'inside' the screen. But then I seem to be the only one with no HSDPA voice calling/recieveing so I guess it is payback! :-)

On mine the dust is in the very top-left corner, near the volume up/down buttons.

Strangely the dust seems to be going now ;) Maybe it's just moved around inside the screen, but there is definately less visible now, and what's left are the smaller "dusticles" (that's a technical term)

I'd say a sticky warning other potential buyers is a good idea. It sounds to me like the manufacturing process is variable, hence the dust appearing in different places.
