Should I say it's wonderful: last Minimo 0.15 does work on my SP5! "Work" meaning that it didn't crash at start and I was able to see some web pages and even search in Google - it was impossible in previous versions. Of course, I have to say that using its current UI on Smartphone isn't easy at all. I recommend to try it only if you wish to see the current development state of Minimo and test its software compatibility. All other users are kindly recommended to wait until the more user-friendly version will be released.

How to install: download the file MinimoCE_0.015.cab from developer's page (it could be shown at downloading as .tgz, but really it's .cab); extract all files it to empty directory, add the _setup.xml from attached zip, and create the new cab using command like this:
cabarc.exe n minimo.cab *.*

Then install it on the Smartphone (on the Storage Card, of course). Cabarc can be downloaded here as a part of Cabsdk.

Controls:
Joystick: select link on the page (except input areas!) / scroll up/down
Left softkey: left menu - right menu - address line (in cycle)
Right softkey: select next link or field (esp. to leave the input area)

Bugs/issues:
UI font is extremely small
Browsing is very slow
Backspace works partially
Tabs cannot be closed on Smartphone
...
Attached File  _setup.zip (1.06K)
Number of downloads: 287

I'm unable to install Minimo (V. 0.16) on my O2 XDA Phone (SmartPhone with WM5 running on it). :D

Trying to install it via ActiveSync results in a message "Not enough memory" (what is true concerning the phone's internal memory which is about 4,5 MB free memory and Minimo needs about 8,5MB, as far as I know), but I want to install it to my SDCARD, where's more than enough memory space left.

So I tried to install the CAB file. This try was successfull refering to the memory problem, but now I was told that "this application would not be intended for running on my device"! :)

Anybody knows a solution or workaround? ;)

Thanx in advance!

Current Device: O2 Xda Phone (= HTC Douton/Tornado) - SmartPhone with Windows Moblie 5 for SmartPhones (WM5SP) running on it (QVGA Display resolution [240*320]).

*** PS: I'm always looking for nice, free apps running on WM5SP & supporting QVGA resolution - so just let me know if you know some! ***

I really have thought of this... - but:
1) Minimo is for free (whereas Opera isn't),
1) I like Mozilla Project Apps (using nearly only FireFox and ThunderBird).
So it would be great to get Minimo working on my mobile device...! ;)

Yesterday I have tried the last beta of Minimo (nightly build) on my SP5. Indeed, it works, but quite slow; some options are not accessible via Smartphone's keyboard (even "Enter" in some dialogs). Maybe it will work better on Pocket PC with touchscreen. How to install: download the file

ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/min..._1_8/minimo.zip

(smallest file in this directory, about 3.5 Mb). Copy it to device, unpack ZIP with subdirs wherever you want, e.g. to \\Storage Card\Program Files and make shortcut to startup file.

Hi Slavic,
thanks for your hints.
Meanwhile, I've already read about this in another thread. There're also some comments about the handling on a smartphone, i. e. without any touch screen; it seems there are some mouse pointer emulations for smartphones. Look out here and read especially killerost's posting carefully!
Unfornately, I haven't got the time to test it out for myself... :)

See http://www.modaco.co...howtopic=256872 for Windows Mobile Smartphone Web Browsing Bible; there, I’ve also elaborated on Minimo – and, for that matter, ALL the other Web browsers available. A MUST read!
