I am trying to use Active Sync over bluetooth using the awful BlueSoleil software.

The problem is when I set up a partnership with my XDA II and the PC, the XDA only lists 'Serial Port' as a service for the PC, there is no ActiveSync service.

I would ideally like to use the Windows Bluetooth stack but I'm not sure if my dongle (Canyon BTU-1) supports it - BlueSoleil is the driver that came with it.

I have read this thread and I run into problems on the first step:

1) On your computer, go into bluetooth settings. Check bluetooth is ON and set to discoverable. Add an incoming COM port, eg. COM5.
When I do this and click OK I get an error

Bluetooth Service Error

An error occurred while Windows was saving your settings. The following settings were not saved:

Discoverability settings
Connection settings

OK
---------------------------

I assume this is because I'm using the BleuSoleil driver stack and not the Windows one? I am able to print to my bluetooth printer and I can talk to my cellphone so BlueSoleil is working to some degree.

I'm pulling my hair out here, any advice would be great.

I am using the same horrid software, and was having the same problem with it only giving me a serial connection. After lots of playing around yesterday I have managed to get it to work!!! No guarantees but this is what I did:

Delete any exiting partnerships on the PC and the phone
Open Active Sync (With out the phone connected)
Open the connection settings (this will take ages its trying to find the phone, but hang in there it will eventually give up and display the options)
Select connect to this port.. And select COM7.
Close Active Sync and reboot your PC
Make sure your phones bluetooth is on.
Open Active Sync on your phone
Select sync over bluetooth.
Its should now say there are no connections that support active sync, and ask if you would like to set one up, say yes.
It will now go though the standard bluetooth set up but hopefully in the services section at the end you should be able to tick Active Sync.

Worked for me and hopefully you too, was lots of trail and error and I was just about to though the PC though a window, but then success and it been syncing quite happily since.

Good Luck! ;)
