1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the 'Volume Down' button and at the same time also press and hold the 'Call End' button (the red telephone symbol).
3. The device should vibrate, when it does let go of the buttons, job done.

I think this would be a good place to warn people that a hard reset will result in losing a few of the phone functions (speed dials/t9 look up) until Mio release a ROM update to fix it.

Thanks to bogblaster we now have a cab file for people who have had to perform a hard reset.
It will restore the phone functions you mentioned. However some people have used the hard reset to get a speed dial function that works properly!

You can download the cab file from: http://www.fourpages...ialer.ARMV4.CAB

I've also done a hard reset and found the same problems with the phone function. The scary bit is that my knowledge of these type of things borders on desperate. I did find the only unofficial mio website very handy though and came across these (see links below) to fix the problem.

However, as I've just had the mio A701 for a couple of weeks, would it be better to send it back under warranty to have it fixed by professionals? Will this costitute an under warranty fix?

Any help appreciated.
Thanx
