Has anyone heard details about Orange launching the C700? I heard rumour today that the device is due to be launched in the next month or so!

nope

very unlikely as they have just recently released C600 - havin another smartphone as soon as that from orange is never an orange thing - in fact takes a GOOD few months.

if there were such a C700 then the only good thing would be the wifi - which may be put into it - but again i doubt it being orange and all

sorry for being negitive about orange but its the experience I have had as well as this everyone knows what orange are like when releasing smartphones and what will be good about the "future" device - which really isnt much

Welcome to the forum, morse ;)

As my friend Tech says, I would be shocked if Orange were to release a new device next month as we'd expect the rumours to have started about a year ago and to have had at least a draft specification in the public arena some time soon after that.

So we have to ask, where did you hear the rumour ? What else do you know ? What type of device are we talking - presumably another SPV Smartphone ? Come on, fess up ! ;)

OK OK! and thanks for the welcome. Well, the rumour came from a 'major business accounts' manager within Orange who also confirmed it with Orange corporate product support. No picture or details, just that it would be a smartphone along the lines of the C600. The interesting bit of info is that it will also have an actively coupled car it (unlike the C600) Will keep you posted if I hear more!

The only device i can imagine it being is the i-mate SP5 (Faraday?). Same as the C600 but with added wifi goodness!

Sounds like an unfounded rumour to me... but I imagine there WILL be a C700, and imagine it will be based on the HTC Breeze (think C600 with 3G / video calling etc).

It'll probably look a bit like this ;)

I'm hoping it's based on the htc star trek (imate smart flip etc) that's a nice looking phone!

^ lol "chunky"

thanks Disco stu ;) I agree again - if such a new device would be upcoming then it would take them a good year for them to "announce" it or even to release it.

take for example my "c600 drama" which im sure many people are aware off -

I was after the device since it would have WM5 - this is going in July 2005 - I kept asking them "when is this going to be released?" and the answer "yeh should be at the end of the month" - along came the end of the month and guess what? not released

this had been going on all the way until November then I gave up and just bought the Imate SP5m - don't regret having that phone

So in order for C700 to actually be released - would take them a good year me thinks then cancelling the launch then re-launching with a great feature removed (sorry, just had to!)

For the 3g or the form factor? I like the Star Trek myself. But not in pink ta.

(I had a StarTac 70 10 years ago and loved answering calls by saying 'Kirk to Enterprise' when pulling it from it's belt holster and flipping it open in one action... still got my JagTac 130 somewhere, might have to find it out and have a play ;) )

Could be worse, could be the Baby Pink you can get on the MDA Compact II...

I'd call it more of a dark red really ;)

I think u guys might be soon surprised how Orange is gonna respond to the market. I'm confident they'll soon regain a leading position in advanced technologies and services. Let's see..

Sun is shining, weather is sweet.

I really believe that Orange is going to release more phones this year, because HTC is going to make more phones than last year, so they cant realise a smartphone only in every 6 months. They should release them in a shorter time, from now on.

Well I have an email from the same (up to now reliable) source who says Orange marketing will have some branded literature on the C700 out next week! Watch this space!
