I follow the guides here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/hel...ync/sygate.mspx but it still refuses to sync unless I completely close Sygate down. Not really any good if I want to be connected to the net at the same time. :?:

I use activesync that came on the CD, 4.0 and not 4.1, I too had issues. Maybe it was just the reinstall but still..
Why not just use Windows Firewall? or do you want to regulate the outgoing traffic. Just a thought..

I use Zone Alarm ,it is obviously that it is blocking your phone ,that is what it should do .However i configured my firewall to "leave my device alone" .It must be possible for Sygate as well .

The instructions on the site you listed kinda worked for me for a little while, Then just stopped.
Anyway i figured out a way around it..
It is a varitation on the M$ instructions.
In Sygate Advanced Rules.
General Tab
Choose Add, Name it Activesync. On the same screen you will see Advanced Settings. Make sure your phone is connected. Click this drop down list and select "Windows Mobile Based Device"
Allow Access Selection above it aswell.
Hosts Tab
Keep All Host Selected
Ports And Protocols Tab
Keep All Selected
Scheduling Tab
Select As you like.
Applications Tab
Use the browse button to locate the following files.
rapimgr.exe
wcescomm.exe
wcesmgr.exe
Make sure these are now ticked and appear on the list.
Ok the options and you phone should now sync without any issues.
Does for me anyway.
Hope this helps

Has anyone found an answer to this that works?

But tbh. since PFC is dead for quite some time now, I'd get another fw anyway.
Personally, I've switched over to the also free Comodo firewall (which btw. kicked most other firewalls butts in several tests). That one works fine with AS.
You can get it at www.comodo.com ... if you want it.
