Well all....as my last post in this forum (for now until a slicker smartphone comes out) due to getting a SE P910 (OMG...big, but awesome).

I posted some settings a week or so back to help someone out trying to get their SMT-5600 to work on Cingular's network. Since then I have gotten at least two emails a day from prople wanting those settings. I tried emailing them to the requestors...but kept getting bounced emails. So...tried uploading here...dunno...seems to take a while. Got impatient and uploaded them to a free online host. Bandwidth may be a problem. Maybee someone else can host and post here. Hopefully this works...if not...I will lurk here every now and then...send me a PM.

Anyways, here they are:
.pdf with the SMT-5600 and Cingular Mediaworks settings

SMT-5600 to Cingular Rebranding Conversion files

Best of luck to all...

Peace

Dude your talkin' to yourself. ;)

Seriously though, thanks for the update. I have been debating whether I should unlock my phone and call up Cingular and have them switch. I like Rollover and so I probably will.

I had it and was using it like a fiend but found myself wanting more and couldn't justify spending $20 a month so I canceled it and am bluetooth pass-thru'n through my desktop & notebook.

My debate is do I go for it and unlock my phone and switch to Cingular.... I'm still an AT&T kiddie right now and am getting a serious cheap bone pokin' at me. yeah it's only $38 dollars to unlock.. but hey!! $38!! now.. if it was $20 i'd ... rofl
;)

I love cingulars unlimited gprs. last month i downloaded almost 100 megs on their network with it (i use it as a modem cause armadillo is blocked on my college network) i love it. with no media plan that would have been $3000 and with the basic plan that would have been $1000. so i think $20 is a deal!!!!!!!

I'm posting this because mobile-distortion said he wouldn't be hanging out in this forum anymore so he probably won't be updating that doc anymore.

All of the steps in that PDF worked for me both times I have had to set up my data connections except for one step.

When setting the dataconnection settings for MMS, I had to set "Connect via" to "The Internet" instead of "WAP Network". I don't know why, it could be due to my location, a mistake I made in an earlier setting or any number of things, but it would not work using MMS via WAP Network but works great using The Internet.

Hey guys...i have a question...I have set all of my settings on my smt5600 manually because its an unlocked at&t phone. My question is this: Most times the settings i've set have been labeled 'media works' but i only have the media basic package. So does it matter if my settings for MMS are 'via the internet' or 'via WAP'? I know that you can send SMS throught GPRS and have it count only on the data side...is it the same for MMS? becuase i want them to be counted from my alotment of MMS's and not from the data. does this question make sense?

also, on my actual GPRS connection settings, there is an option of 'TYPE:' and it can be either HTTP or WAP, is that the same? meaning I dont know what my phone should have there. I have all of my services working, I just want to make sure that SMS come out of SMS and that MMS come out of MMS alotment and that Data is just that Data. thanks for your help and i hope i was clear enough.

i guess i just confused myselft on looking up all of these settings cause i swear i've seen settings done for an smt5600 on cingular in more than one way. I dont want to set mine up the same way someone with unlimited data does and then have a huge Data bill and show no MMS.

Does anyone have some guidance on this issue? I've followed the steps from above and also do not show any of the added settings to change the data connection settings. All that shows is "Automatic".

Thanks much!!!

Well, i attempted to use these settings after succesfully unlocking my 5600, and everytime i attempt to retrieve a photo in an MMS message, i get an error saying to check my proxy/dial-up settings. also, every now and then my home screen will display AT&T Wireless instead of CIngular Wireless, and show the roaming icon at the top of the screen. Thoughts?
