I've had a fax from Richard...

Quote

Delivery: Within 7 days after receipt of payment (note: doesn't specify for overseas delivery)
Payment: T/T in advance
Company information:
 Name: Teravit Co. Ltd.
Address: #818 Kyunghee Venture Centre, Yongin, Kyeonggi-Do, 449-701 Korea
Bank information:
Bank Name: Korea Exchange Bank, Yeong Tong Branch
 Swift code: Koexkrse
 Payable address: 995-2, Yeongtong-dong, Paladal-Gu, Suwon-City, Korea
 Account:#: 468-13-00146-2

I have no idea how to check these people out!

Those addresses sound like the names of childrens TV characters more than place names to me, well "Yeong Tong Dong" might be an adult entertainer I suppose... anyways...

If anyone knows how to check these people out I'd love to hear... maybe there are some Korean users on the forum?
Paul is asking the MoDaCo Shop people whether they will order some, so it's worth hanging on a bit to get the answer to that first I think.

Hold your horses everybody please

We work directly with 2 of some of the largest memory manufacturers in the world, I have asked for some information on the supplier along with the question as to why SanDisk and Kingmax have not yet launched a 1GB product, I am waiting to hear back and will let you all know as soon as possible, incidently SanDisk will launch a 512MB this month for those of you who prefer the SanDisk brand.

Please be very careful when buying anything outside of the UK, there are many things to consider when parting with your hard earned cash

When 1GB cards are available rest assured Shop MoDaCo will have them to sell to you in abundance.

Well I sure wish you were there when those nice Nigerians asked for my bank account details so I could help them make us all incredibly rich.
Can you help me across the road now, sonny ?

All joking aside, I'm sure we're all experienced enough now to weigh up the pro's and con's of buying things from abroad, using the shopping horror that is the tinternet - anyone ever shopped on eBay ?

Not wanting to be a kill-joy or anything guy's but these companies and manufacturers are not really interested in selling one off's or single units, they are looking for volume purchasers/orders, even distribution deals with large quantity's

I've had a pro-forma invoice for 3 x 1Gb miniSD cards, so why would you assume that they don't want to sell small quantities?

At the moment none of us know the company, and it could turn out to be nothing (or nothing we want to get involved in!) which is why we're being careful.

I appreciate that the Shop is only trying to protect it's interests, but news that SanDisk are bringing out 512Mb cards isn't much use to those of us that want 1Gb!

Frankly quite appalled by some of you folks' comment specifically regarding the Korean names. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out Korean is different from English and It may comes as a surprise to some of you that it may not sound like English names.

Now, regarding the vendor's trustworthiness, I have not dealt directly with these folks, but I am trying to see some of my mates who are over there for work to check them out. One friend who reads Korean told me that vendor in Korean webpage has a e-store that is not directly them, but a distributor, who looks pretty legit. Hopefully, my friend can get back to me regarding this vendor/distributor. He also told me, from the distributor's site, it works out about $170 USD for one 1GB miniSD, so with taxes and delivery, you are probably looking at over $220 USD. I will update you if I hear back from my friend. With holidays approaching, he told me not to expect any info until month or two, since has pre-holiday work deadlines.

@rugbygod

Relax fella. none of the comments were out of line... they were jokes (not hilarious maybe, but jokes all the same)

The point i was trying to make was that there is almost no way to verify the info, and the names could be the Korean equivalent of Bodgit & Scarper and we'd never know .

It's the age old issue of buying on the internet... you normally dont know who you are dealing with, and in this case you dont have the comfort of being able to trace people in your home country (unless you happen to be Korean!)

Hi, I am a Richard in "Teravit" in Korea.
First, as some guy said, generally most Korean don't use an english name
but, someone who work with oversea company has their own an
english name like "Richard"
Second, I understand your mind. because "Teravit" is not a big company
maybe, you can not believe our products. Don't doubt!!
We have a high technology and Know-how and several patents
about memory card. so, we have a relationship with a big
company in Korea like Samsung and LG.
Third, We are searching a volume purchaser/dealer in oversea and got
two dealers(Absolline and K.fox) in Korea.
Fourth, 1GB items came out before 2 weeks. so, many guys did not know
about yet. but, we have a capability to make about 100,000ea
per month and have several products. please check our homepage
www.teravit.co.kr.

Fifth, "Teravit" located in Suwon city near the Seoul
In "Young Tong Dong", dong means one of the area of Suwon.
and In KEB(Korea Exchange Bank), each branch has their own
swift code
Sixth, The unit price which i already submitted is temporal event price
until the end of this month(Nov.)
It is just to commemorate the come out for 1GB

If you have some question, please contact me.

Richard.
