Please can anyone who is using their E100 with one of the online pay as you go o2 sim cards (the ones with 300 free texts and 300 mins of WAP), please help me out.

Please do not refer me to the GPRS settings thread, as I have exhausted that already... read below

I have tried all combinations of settings to try and get my o2 sim card to work using the GPRS on o2. The settings on the "settings thread" dont work, nor do the ones that o2 customer services emailed me, nor the ones on the o2 website :/ Myself and Ian (I forget his nick on Modaco) have been trying to get this to work for about 3 hours this evening, trying every combination we can think of.

The closest I got was this;

AP: payandgo.o2.co.uk
User: payandgo
Pass: password
DNS1: 193.113.200.201
DNS2: 193.113.200.200
IP: blank

Now when I try and go to google, it goes;

Dialing...
Finding...
Connecting...

But the site never loads.

The settings on the GPRS setting thread just make it stop at "Finding..." and then it displays an error (page cannot be found kinda thing).

Could someone who has this working PLEASE post me a walkthrough on how you set it up?

I will need your GPRS settings, WAP settings, and your Proxy settings.

All help appreciated, and will be remembered.

Cheers to Ian for all his help and efforts so far.

PS: I have phoned o2 to make sure everything on their end is correct, and they assure me its all enabled and ready to rock.

PPS: The phone does connect fine when I have the Orange sim in and tell it to use the Orange settings. Just the o2 ones refusse to work.

hk

Here ya go :D

Create proxy connection
Description: O2 proxy
Connects from: The Internet
Connects to: WAP network
Proxy (name:port): 193.113.200.195:8080
Type: HTTP
Username: blank
Password: blank

Create GPRS connection
Description: O2 WAP GPRS
Connects to: The Internet
Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk
User name: payandgo
Password: password
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP address: (blank)

In data connections
WAP connection : O2 WAP GPRS

In Internet Explorer, Menu-options-Connections, Untick 'Automatically detect settings and make 'Select Network:WAP network'

This will give you access to view HTML pages and you can even download files over GPRS. Unfortunately some restrictions apply to WAP proxy 8080 i.e you can't log into sites (=no messenger).

If you want view WML pages like wap.o2.co.uk then change the proxy settings to 193.113.200.195:9201 and Type=WAP

Next create the WAP dialup and attach it to the Internet connection.

Create Dial Up WAP Connection
Description: O2 CSD WAP
Connects to: The Internet
Country code: 44
Dialling code: 7712
Phone number: 927927
Username: 02wap
Password: password
Domain: (blank)

In data connections
Internet connection : O2 CSD WAP

If you want to use the dialup for Internet Explorer then change 'Select Network:The Internet' in Internet Explorer options.

You can log into sites and MSN messenger and do most other things with this dialup ;)

Note: Periodically check if you are being charged for the dialup by dialling *#10# for a balance check. I believe you have to spend £10 a month to qualify for the free minutes.

Let me know if sorts your problems.
Good Luck

Just had what I thought was a brilliant idea, I put the o2 sim in my 6310i and phoned o2 to send me the automatic settings (seeing as its a supported phone). Does it work though... HELL NO!! :/

I'll give your walkthrough a try Martin and let you know how I get on. The top settings you gave me should make the phone use the free unmetered GPRS as opposed to the WAP yes? Right time to go give this a try.

Those let me online, using the GPRS, which is shiny :D o/ I loaded modaco and google, its a little touchy. Now to get MSN working. Is it not possible to use MSN over the GPRS rather than getting it to dial that number. I only get 300 mins of WAP time, but unlitimited GPRS. Any ideas mate?

Trying the second bank of settings now. (You really are the GPRS expert it seems ;))

Unfortunately it depends on the network operator and it looks like it's blocked when using the prepaid WAP APN on O2  I suppose that is what you get for having free GPRS

You would have to sign up to the O2 Internet service on a contract account to get unrestricted access (including MSN) over the GPRS network.

squall, you would just need to change the Access Point Names for GPRS.
Internet over GPRS= APN mobile.o2.co.uk,
WAP over GPRS= wap.o2.co.uk
Proxy 193.113.200.195:8080 (or port 9201 for WML) as per normal ;)

The dialup connection and WAP connection settings are contained in this thread - see settings above.

The work connection is generally not used but you can use it for a pass through connection or VPN connection etc.

For MMS look for O2 in the GPRS settings repository (page 2) :)
